My instructions said to load the 6.0 separately.  It didn't say anything about deleting the older version.

So I have both of them.

Does VWS get it's data from WL or directly from the console of my Vue/USB?

My Davis online weather page is not updating, but VWS is.  I can't figure out how to manage this software
Fortunately for me, all my data since last Oct. is successfully saved on WU.

What instructions?  From where did they come?

I know that's not helpful to you, but...

Did you configure 6.0 after you installed it?  Which version of WeatherLink is actually running?

The instructions I read were on the website when I purchased the online capability.

Now I have 6.0 hooked up to the website, but it is not updating from the console.
The 5.9 version is linked to VWS and also updating Wunderground, etc.  When I tried to update the website, it worked, but then VWS stopped updating.

So I need to switch over to the newer WL.  I am paranoid about the switch over so I will probably just call Davis when I have some free time.

In an email to me, Davis said to call them when I have some time by my computer and they will be sure I have all the pages set up correctly.

You have both versions installed and running? If so, there's your problem.

You can not run two verisons or iterations of WL at the same time unless you are using some type of com splitter like Virtual VP.   There is no reason to run both.

If you did the ubgrade from Davis website then it installed 6.0 in the same directory as 5.9. All you should need to do is shut down 5.9 and start 6.0 at set the correct com port (it should be correct anyway unless you changed it.)

Thw WL directory will have both exe files in it but you should be running 6.0 only.

That's my point exactly. That's why one works and the other one doesn't. And if that is his intention, he will HAVE to buy VVP. The problem is Steve has stopped selling it... we hope temporarily.

Yes.  You guys are obviously correct.  I could already see that you can't have both running.  It doesn't work.

...Fortunately for me, all my data since last Oct. is successfully saved on WU.

Just remember WU notoriously under reports wind speed, missing accurate wind gusts nearly 100% of the time -otherwise just fine. CWOPS data is spot on but it does not go back very far at all...

Today WU report the highest wind gust was 33mph when it was accurately reported on CWOPs at 41mph a 8mph difference.

OK, finally back home to address this.  You said I should shut down 5.9, not uninstall it?  So I "shut down" 5.9, pull up 6.0, and then make sure vws gets connected to it rather than 5.9?  I won't lose any data or history doing that as they are "in the same directory"?

Well, I understand my problems now about WL and VWS.

The datalogger can only send it's station info to 1 recipient at a time.

So, if I wish to download data to the online WL site, I have to shut down vws.
Or vice versa.

I think I get more from vws than with WL. It downloads 24/7 to wunderground and others. Too bad I have to make a choice,
I guess this was obvious to most people who have used this weather software.

The other option is getting a copy of Virtual VP.

oh let me throw in my 2 cents, it is like a faculty meeting here on whether or not to raise money for band uniforms.

I have never felt that Weatherlink was really being developed to its fullest capacity.  I have had their stuff since I had my WM II .
I have asked for simple things such as being able to rename my sensors from Soil 1  to 4 inch soil moisture  on the graphs that they generate for the web.  Sure I can change sensors names on the graphs that do not upload, but really  wouldn't that be something nice.

On their site, when looking at the weatherlink for IP site,  go to any summary page and there you will find wonderful information such as "Extra Temp 2".  Now what is that?   If you are me, it is the sensor in the attic, but to the rest of the world, no one knows.

This site is merely a vanity site and the data there, well I have no idea other than, they send it to CWOP or Weather Underground or to Martians living in Death Valley.... It is only that.

Hence, Davis has no desire to tailor make their software compatible with what  their consumer wants.  There is nothing there. No improvements and when I have written them and I did that often, until I realize it was being shit canned,  being told "I'll send that to our software department."

What I do see is that they have developed some serious money agricultural and security packages that use their stuff.

What is the best to do is to go to a compatible third party software developer. There are some excellent ones there.  I recommend Weather Display because when you ask for the ability to do something, it is done for you.   I asked for Globe.gov being sent via their software  when I want it.   He did it for me and I don't know how many use that function, but I know that four times a day, six hours of data is sent to Globe.Gov because I get the reports back from them.

I uses Weatherlink only to pull down data when I do my monthly reports for my site as well as using the one's that Weatherdisplay produces automatically without me doing much.

So, what to do,  you have my recommendation.   or it is the heat talking...

PS: V V P is selling again.

http://www.softwx.com/downloads.html

The price went up a bit, but considering all the advantages, it's still worth it.

Long story short. Took the pc in to have some things cleaned up. They accidentally deleted 5.9.2a. I DL 6.0 and when I try to enable the WU module it keeps disabling itself after I restart. Tried this several times and it keeps happening. Did a restart of the pc also but no luck. Any idea why?

My guess is that the original installment of WL got deleted, too.

Please clarify.  Are you saying that the basic functions of WeatherLink 6.0.0 work correctly, but WU will not work at all?  Or that WeatherLink doesn't work?  Or some other combination?

Also, what version of the WU module?

Yes WL 6.0 works fine. It even uploads to CWOP.
The problem is with the WU module. After I enable the module and restart the program the module is disabled. Once I restart the program the WU settings should appear in the file menu to put in the pertinent information but it doesn't because the module some how is disabled.
The module version is WuWlink_1.dll

After uninstalling and re-installing I am now getting an error that I am missing a dll file. Brick wall
Anyways, I talked to Davis and they are sending me the disk with a full install. I would think that should fix the problem.
I hope. Pray
