Went in to work for a couple of hours tonight (for a project I can't seem to find time for on my regular shift) and saw what I thought was just some heat lightning in the west; came out around 1:30am and as I was driving thru Tempe to go grab some food I went thru a small rain band and on the other side it was still 95F according to the thermometer in my Jeep.

Got up to *only* 114F yesterday...

Yeah but it's better than in the downtown PHX area :p  Out where I currently live we can actually get down into the teens in winter  Confused

Got up to 115F yesterday then around midnight a storm came thru and we had 0.24" of rain by 2:30am; right now it's 77F outside and lightly raining (which I'm happy to let it do all morning long  Applause ).

Looks like my 36.8C (98.25F) on July 17th is gonna stand for my area.  Since summer started in May (or was it April/March), we are already in fall'sh weather in August.

Nothing on 2 week over 29C (85F). Its actually mostly hovering around 25C (77F)

Felt fallish down here for me as well. The 17th it plunged down to 88.8 but has worked back up to upper 90s. Haven't seen 100+ since the 15th but no winds or rain lately so  Dancing

Pretty sure I have seen my high for the year at 85.9°.  I have already had nine days with the overnight lows in the 30s for August, with frost three times.  Not looking forward to winter.

I hear you on that.  Dewpoints hanging in the low 70's F here.  I get soaking wet  with sweat not even doing anything.  Plus it smells like a wet basement in a 200 year old house.  Almost as bad for my allergies as the dry dust blowing around was.  Come on fall!  Wink

Not just fall, but freeze!  My allergies (ragweed especially) are killing me.

Not only that, we have West Nile to deal with, which experts around here say won't really leave until the first freeze.  Oklahoma, although not hit as hard as Texas, has it's worst epidemic (possibly) of it since it was introduced in 1999.  In 2007, we had 107 reported cases of it for the year.  This year, we currently have 101 (5 deaths).  I limit my outdoor activity around dawn and dusk, and even when I go out after dark I wear repellant.  They are suggesting at least 30% DEET.  I have some with 40.

I actually had a case of it in 2000.  It's nasty and no fun to have.  It's like a horrible flu.  I wasn't hospitalized, but was off work for a week.  My temp got to 103 before it broke.  I asked my doctor if I could get it again.  They don't have enough data to say whether or not one case gives you antibodies enough to fight it.

Surprised at the current West Nile outbreak.  Especially the locations.  Places talked about that are hardest hit seem to be in a drought.  Doesnt seem conducive to having a bunch of mosquitoes.  Our worst mosquito time is mid-late spring, when its warming up and very damp and the standing water from spring showers is starting to stagnate.  The really hot summer weather seems to keep them at bay, usually.   But I guess this year our spring showers came in June/july (even though they were one or two day events)

However even here, I have been bit at odd time the past week.  I dont recall one mosquito bite all year, then in the last week got hit three times, in broad daylight on a dry day.  Not the typical time at all (dusk/dawn).  fingers crossed.

Dallas area isn't in as extreme of a drought as is Oklahoma.  It can ran big time during a drought, like when it recently rained over two inches here.  Now grass is no longer a uniform pale brown.

Chance of rain increases to 60% on Friday.  Until the first freeze hits in two months on the average, West Nile flu will remain a threat with Sept. and Oct. as some of the rainiest months of the year not helping things.  118 cases reported now in Oklahoma is an all time record amount for a single year.

Well it looks like the heat is mostly gone for the 2012 season, think we could have a competition by state of the hottest places of each place from everyone on the forum???

Well for me, in West Virginia (See if you can be this Mountaineers!), I got up to 103.3F on July 8th...My electric was out for 10 days prior to that and I had 2 more afterwards...We hadn't gotten that hot since WAY before I was born Cool

Wish 28C was considered a "hot spell" for us!!!! That's just under our average high in July!
