Thinking about getting a GoPro for my dashboard for my storm chases. Thinking about getting the motor sport bundle what includes the rain resistant proof case and all the mounts for the dash. Anyone have a GoPro and can tell me what ya think about them or now of any sellers?

one thing about them is that they are sort of fish eye type lens, and object further away seem smaller
so maybe not so good for far away things (i.e the weather), more suited to close up sporting events or similar
(i.e you have it on when doing sports)

Nah, they are excellent.  Esp. the new Hero 2 (HD).  With the HD version you have 3 FOVs - 90, 127 and 170 degree fields.  The video is outstanding and great stills (11 MP) as well.

Thanks bushman will definitely have to check out that site. Yeah I was reading into the new Hero 2 HD ones, that 170degree will be epic especially when it is shooting out of the windshield...here's to not getting a nasty core and punching out my windshield....

Shocked WOW! Shoots amazing video! Quality looked fantastic, audio as smooth, looks like the mounts keep that sucker pretty well anchored down as the video was not jumpy! Great stuff!

It was only my 2nd time in it. I was hitting the soft rev-limiter at several places and was too slow in others... but not bad for a 2nd time out.  And while I'm a little off topic (sorry!), here are a couple of pictures of me and the car at that event. you can see where the camera was mounted.

Petty stoked, getting close to accumulating enough funds to purchase a GoPro. Once I did expect a LOT of storm chasing vids from it to go on my blog site.

It makes a super underwater camera as well. The vids on YouTube are incredible. Makes my Nikon Action 8 (8mm) video camera and Ikelite housing I bought back in the 90's as a waste of money. However, my vids of diving with turtles, barracudas and sharks in Mexico were incredible for that time.

That is a great video of racing, Steve. Excellent quality of video. I am also thinking of getting a GoPro for use on my side by side.

That's some great video! I would've loved that when I ran The Dragon in 2002. Sure would've been a lot nicer than my impromptu vidcam mount.

A big JVC digital vidcam mounted on a tripod that's bungy corded in 2 or 3 places (including the visor) just doesn't make for stable video.  Laughing

The GoPro HD Hero and HD Hero 2 do not function well in low light. That being said, they are outstanding cameras for anything action related. Example video here of me ice climbing in the Adirondacks. This video was taken with a GoPro HD Hero.

Nice! What was that all about at 3:55? Did you drop a soda in your lap or something?  Razz

Solid video. I wish I had that. Mine was bouncy and squeaky from being wedged against the windshield header. Being above the header gave me a lot of wind growl and a bug or two. Can barely hear the rubber squealing let alone the RPMs in mine. You grabbed the two important aspects of filming that run.

You also didn't have any cops in the shadows and only one sightseer who seemed to yield pretty quickly. I had one guy in a van that needed a few days to figure out to pull aside on one run and a cop party on another. Sadly, I had to run it a few times to get a full video...  Mr. Green

No, not that part. 3:55 looks like you might've hit some loose gravel coming out of a turn.
