I have gotten myself extremely confused (which is not hard to do) trying to upgrade my site to Ken's 3.0 V Templates while attempting to keep my present website up and running. I have been trying off and on for a couple of months to get this done w/o success. A couple of hospital stays with my Kidney Failure hasn't helped me be able to sit down and see it through. My current V2.0 site is in my root directory (www.carolinastormwatch.com) and the project I am working on has all of my new files in the "wx" directory in the root of my host.

I FINALLY was able to get my flyout menu and menubar correct last night but cannot get my dashboard to show and suspect it is due to my the paths I am attempting to use for some files. I have changed them but cannot find the correct combination. I changed the clientraw from "clientraw" to "./clientraw" and that seems to be working but it seems the paths to other items are just not correct.

I understand that one would have to see all of my files to make sure the paths are correct so I guess what it all comes down to is what should the paths be for files within the "wx" directory and files outside the "wx" directory in the root such as the directories "ajax-images" and "forecast/icons", ect in the root woyld be. I know this is basically straight forward for most of you but I tend to make stupid errors and mistakes which is driving me crazy with this project. I do have Firebug but my lack of understanding of how it works is no help there. Brick wall

Test site is www.carolinastormwatch.com/wx/wxindex.php

Thanks for ANY SUGGESTIONS!!  Smile

There are 2 files to adjust for the warnings at the top of the page for the icon folder ($icons_folder)
atom-top-warnings.php & atom-advisory.php

Version 3 has another settings file named Settings-weather.php
Configuring that should solve the dashboard error.

Thanks Curly. I wasn't too much worried about the warnings yet but maybe I should. I was trying to get the dashboard in there first and then work on the Warnings Script (SWSP) I just tried to add the SWSP Big Icons to the Menubar and it really messed up what I had so far but I believe that is because of the absence of the SWSP Style sheet.

So you are saying that I don't need to change the file paths in Settings-weather.php IF the files are in the "wx" directory?? I was going to "tweak" my links and other items after I got my main body of work finished first.

Many thanks!!

Tom

Not sure how to handle your paths for now.
Will you eventually move all of your files in the wx folder to the root folder or are you going to always keep the files in the wx folder?

Curly I was eventually going to move all of my files to my root folder and thus didn't put all of my wx... pages in the wx folder and I believe that is a big mistake. It would probably been much easier to have moved everything into the wx folder and started from there. I thought I was being "smart" and just put the basic files in "wx" to get the basic structure of the new templates working and then replace everything in the root with my working basic V3 template and all that I have accomplished is getting really confused. You're getting into something that is beyond my expertise Tom and I don't know how to help you out any further.
I had to try this out on my pc using xampp before totally switching over to version 3.

Possibly some one else may have some helpful input.

I'm in the process of redoing my entire site. I don't use Ken's templates but my solution was to make all my new files start with 4_ (I'm on my 4th revision of things). But they all stay in the same location. That way I wouldn't have to go back and fix a bunch of broken links whe nI moved it all back to the root (or whatever the original location was).
