Afternoon all! I have wanted to get my Davis Vantage Pro2 up on the net, and finally found the time (lots and lots of time I've found) to get things running. Two problems...I can't seem to get the <!--ForecastStr--> (I've seen several variations on the spelling and have tried them all) to work although it is showing correctly on the Bulletin. Second issue is the Barometer History and Outside Temperature History graphs don't present properly in that they are squished on the x axis. The site is here: http://www.duurstede.com/Weather/Hibou.html and any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Birddog

You might run your page by this: W3C .Your page does not come up the same in Firefox, I.E.8, and I.E.9. I know it's a lot of work and some people don't believe with the bother but the fact remains that this, if error free, will render the same with different browsers. If you take the time its not as hard as it looks as one error may cause several, so it just takes a little time.

Happy to do that DougW, but that doesn't answer the questions as to why the jpegs are distorted and that the forecast tag won't work. The distortion is not caused by an error in coding nor is that the reason the tag isn't working. The jpgs are distorted when they are created and the data.html does not contain the forecast, so these are both pre-webpage issues.

I agree with your statement...this will not fix these problems but I thought you might also be concerned with another problem I noticed. Sorry I did not explain my intent. Below is I.E.9

Sorry about that, Doug
*I do remember reading that the Bulletin must be running to generate the forecast....

DougW: I'm on a Mac, so I'm always happy to see what IE does to my webpages. This is just for our internal use, but I will go through the process of fixing the errors. Interestingly it views perfectly in Safari and Firefox on the Mac. Thanks for the pic! Birddog.

Oh - sorry - can't help you there (Mac).  BTW,  there have been (and I've seen) issues in misshapen  GIF images.

The official weather tag list does not include a tag for the forecast.

There is another unofficial source that says the following, but YMMV:

Current Weather Forecast *                  <!--ForecastStr-->

Current Moon Phase                             <!--MoonPhaseStr-->

*Note: The Weather Forecast tag is only available with Monitor or Perception stations if the Bulletin or other real-time window is open during upload. It is always available on Vantage Pro and Vantage Pro2 stations and is not available on Wizard stations.

The above is from: http://wx3660.dk/vejrprogrammer/weatherlink/weatherLink_html_tags.htm

Oh, quoting Davis:  . "The tags are not case sensitive, the use of capital letters in the tags is a convenience for human readers."

Actually, the official list DOES show that string as being available.  It is in my Davis 5.8.n (Windows) user manual

Thanks for the correction.  Is that user manual available online somewhere?  My user manual is from a really old version.

I suppose I should remember to consult "all sources".

I would still like to get a current user manual (.pdf), but I just thought to look at the "help" in WeatherLink 5.9.3 and it says:

Current Weather Forecast *

 <!--ForecastStr-->

Current Moon Phase

 <!--MoonPhaseStr-->

*Note: The Weather Forecast tag is only available with Monitor or Perception stations if the Bulletin or other real-time window is open during upload. It is always available on Vantage Pro and Vantage Pro2 stations and is not available on Wizard stations.

Thanks, but that's the "Getting Started Guide" - and not the complete user manual.

AFAIK, the only manual is the Help file included with WL.  There is a full copy of  it in HTML format on  the net somewhere...

Do you know if there is a current-and-correct HTML Tags list?

I know that there are valid tags that don't appear in that help file.  For instance:

High thsw index      <!--hiTHSWindex-->
Time of High thsw index    <!--hiTHSWindexTime-->
High monthly thsw index    <!--hiMonthlyTHSWindex-->
High yearly thsw index   <!--hiYearlyTHSWindex-->

Those work fine currently on my web site.

I asked, and Davis sent me "documentation" for the tags, version 5.8.  The Note for forecast is slightly different:

"* In order to obtain a weather forecast for a Monitor or Perception station, one of the WeatherLink "real-time" windows (Bulletin, Summary, etc. except for the Strip Chart) must be open at the time of the upload. In addition, if the database has not been downloaded, it may require 3 hours of barometer data before a forecast is generated."

The list that Davis sent does include THSW tags, although those are not present in the help file for 5.9.3
