Hey I was mssing around with some other boards I found, and tested one of them.
Much to my suprise the board works awsome, excet for the fact the humidity /temp sensor is pooched.
I've read up on replacing it with a sensirion sht11 sensor, but at $33.40Cdn it not really worth it.
My second idea was to carefully cut the pc board on one of the other board that I know has a working unit
and just piggy back it on the old one then just do a little wiring magic.
I would like your thoughts good idea? or just by another hygrometer from great big outlet??
That should work if you're careful. That's basically what I had to do with my 2810. A tiny critter got inside the sensor and ruined it. A shop in Bangkok had the SHT11 for about $18 inc. shipping so I ordered one. I just cut the circuit traces to the bad one and installed the replacement above it, supported by it's 4 connections. As you said, cut the good one out you intend to use vs. desoldering it to minimize the possibility of heat damage to it. Also on the good board you're going to use, cut the traces to the bad sensor chip as close to it as possible to be sure to include those tiny capacitors in the circuit.
That other thermo/hygro sensor you mentioned worked in wired mode sounds like the transmitter portion may just need a closer look.
