Ok...new to the forum. Impressed at all the knowledge! Thanks for having me!

Just installed my new Vantage Vue today! I also received WeatherLink IP. I am uploading to the WeatherLink site nicely. I have a Mac, which makes the WeatherLink a little more difficult to use which may be my problem, however...

How do I find the correct IP address I need to use with LWC using the Davis WeatherLink I.P. communication option? I'm trying to get around having to have the console plugged into the computer.

I'm using the IP address found at the bottom of my account page at WeatherLink to no avail. This address did not work with WeatherSnoop either.

Current setup: WeatherLink IP data cable plugged via ethernet to wireless router (broadband connection). Can I accomplish not having to USB the console into the computer (Laptop) with my current setup?

Thanks for any help on this! I have been browsing for a while and have learned so much already.

try checking out the client list on your router
and then match via the DID
(i.e view your router direct from a web page
e.g
192.168.2.1

Hi Mike

Try checking MacWeather, as there are a couple people there using WLIP with LWC, if I recall correctly. Good Mac infer there, and great weather and hardware info here on WXforums. You'll get the best of both worlds. (Also note that LWC's replacement, Trixology's WeatherCat, just went on public beta last week. Check it out, as the developer can accommodate your needs.

I think you will find there is nothing wrong with the advice I am giving smorris as I have an IP data logger here and that is how you find the IP address
(does not matter what software is being used)

I realize that Brian, and your advice is indeed correct. I was just noting that there are some features, such as AppleScripts used with LWC and WeatherCat, that don't work the same with the WL IP, and he might want to visit the forum where the developer of those AppleScripts discusses them.

I'm not poaching users. There's plenty of knowledge on all the weather forums for us to learn from.

Thank you both for your help! I was able to grab the IP that started with "192" and works like a charm. Such a good moment when all data starts synching. Guess I'll have to make a comprimise with the portability of the Macbook if I want rapid fire updates on wunderground. Although I could always unbury the ol' Windows machine and see if I could make it run well enough to dedicate to real time updates.

Thanks again. I'm already having a lot of fun with the PWS and looking forward to checking up with this forum often.

You should be able to upload to WU and CWOP directly from LWC, once you get LWC to recognize your IP feed.
