How do I add My webcam
(1/1)
beaudog:
I have looked all over the weather bug site. I can find other web cams. It says this one a picture of a parking lot in New Mexico is close to me.   Right a different state.

So where do I go to add my web cam?

I already send wx data.  And have been for a long time.

My location is right in the middle of this map but my station does not show up.

My data is here.

You can't. They currently don't use web cam images from personal sites. I pasted a link to my current image on the Backyard WeatherBug page so it updates every five minutes, but that's not linked at all to my current weather conditions.

Tht's part of the PITA that we've complained to Nathan about. He says they are planning on making improvements. All I've seen so far is removing my local discussion group and not replacing it with the state groups as we were told was happening...

Latest update on the webcams is it's officially on the table for discussion and we have a preliminary roadmap in place. I don't have personal access to the infrastructure for this feature, so I have to bring in a few developers to chat with and find out how quickly they can roll this out. I've laid the roadmap on the table and told my CTO exactly what we need to do to pull it off and pull it off the right way. Now it's up to the team to do it. I'll monitor every step of the process though, and I'll try to keep you guys posted.

The big maintenance that happened recently is one step in the right direction. We'll probably need to have another maintenance done before long. There's something I want to happen first on the backend before we roll this out so when we do, we won't experience an outage with it. I'm carefully wanting us to move each step on this so when it happens, it "just works".

Steve, go ahead and create a group for your state. I'll approve it and work with you to set it up. I'm allowing people in their own states to get involved in creating their state groups so they have their hands in the developmental process of each state group. Then I come in and add in some maps, icons, stuff to fix it up a little. So feel free to create the bare bones group and I'll work with you on it.

Thanks Nathan,

I'd be happy to do that, but I don't think I'd have any content to add. I'm terrible about posting on the blog, and have trouble keeping active on the new Facebook page. Then I look at what Rick has done in California and know that anything I contribute will pale by comparison. I'm hoping someone with a little more experience than my four months doing this will step in and create the Ohio Group.

No problem. I could create the Ohio group for the heck of it, but since I'm not from there, it'd be better if someone else did. :-) Yeah, if anyone's willing to step up, the floor is theirs!
