Acurite 01035, Weather Display

WWW
« on: February 25, 2012, 12:01:03 AM »

I have been using an Acurite 01035 USB-enabled unit with no problems for over a month. In the past day or two, it goes through periods where the wind direction is getting stuck on South. Tonight it has been stuck on south for several hours. I plan on taking out the batteries from the 5-in-1 and resetting it tomorrow to see if that helps. Any other ideas?

Regards,
Chris

Did resetting your 5-in-1 fix the wind direction problem ?

Acu-rite 01515. That's it. No web page, no links, just me and my console.

Actually, it kind of just fixed itself after a few hours. By the time I woke up the next morning, it was fine. It has done this a couple of times, not sure of the reason.

Let me know if that keeps happening- it may have been that you lost RF connection for a bit?

I would think that the wind speed would be stuck too during these times, but the wind speed along with everything else continues to work fine, just the wind direction is stuck. It happened again briefly yesterday, but fixed itself within 30 minutes.

When the direction gets stuck- does the actual wind vane on your sensor stuck as well? If so, and if you have easy access to the sensor, try pulling down on the wind vane. Some sensors were packed too tightly in the shipping process, causing the shaft to bind initially on the housing. Pulling down on the vane seats the retainer correctly and relieves the binding.

It hasn't had this problem since, been running fine for a couple of months, except for one night when the communication stopped. It did come back after a couple of hours though. Otherwise, running with no problems.
Quick question though, any thought to adding a UV sensor to the 5-in-1 or as a separate sensor?

Thanks.

We frequently discuss options and upgrades to our sensors, UV just always ends up being an option that mass retail customers will give up rather than face a higher retail price. We will always take requests for additional sensor options serious and try to add to an appropriate product at the right sales channel in the future.

Thanks for the feedback!
