Was awakened by the wind and heavy racket at about 2:00 a.m.  Got up to check what was going on and discovered the racket was being caused by pea-sized hail driven by 40 mph winds hitting the house.  Temperature was 30° F.  Then the lightning and thunder started.  This only lasted about ten minutes, but the high winds continued all night.

I let the dog out about 7:30 this morning and the temperature was 15° and it had snowed about 4 inches, as near as I can tell from my snow stake.  The snow and the wind combined to create two foot drifts the entire length of my .2 mile driveway.  At least no more trees were blown across the drive, but as long as the wind continues blowing, I will not be getting the snow blower out.  Looks like winter finally arrived.

Looks like I will not be going anywhere today, as the winds are still gusting over 20 mph.
