That's the first time I've seen somebody separate the temp/humidity section of a VP and place it in a Stevenson screen. I wouldn't imagine you needed to do that with the supplied radiation shield on the system. Does it help with your readings? It may help also if you could swing the Stevenson screen around 180 degrees on it's mount so the door is facing south, out of the direct sun when you open it.

I made the stevenson screen when I was using a Lacrosse ws3600 weather station. It was really bad for direct heat. really changed the temps. I looked at it when I got the VP2. I thought no harm in putting it in the stevenson screen. Havnt really tested the differance with and without it. I cant turn the stevenson screen around as the cable from the iss to the temp/hum unit is to short, Only about 45cm. It goes straight from the iss to the temp/hum unit. through the top of the stevenson screen. Love the VP2, such a quality unit.
