Or better yet, instead of just showing color coded pins on the map, allow the pinpoint to display the current station temp reading like certain other weather maps (hint, hint!)  BTW, at home on IE7, the backyard map still says unable to load the app at this time.  Worked fine using IE8 at work. Maybe I'll try to upgrade browser version and see what happens.

Yeah, the Bing Map is pretty finicky I'll say. Interesting tidbit. If any of you use WeatherStudio, the developer is getting some of our API's from us, so he's wanting to incorporate some of our data contours, Backyard Stations, and even lightning into the app. WeatherStudio would be one great way to view Backyard Stations on high-res mapping (not the only way, but a good way!). Plus, incorporating out lightning data will be huge. One of the ONLY major weather graphics apps out there that comes with lightning data out of the box.

I'm seeing my station Nathan. THANK YOU!

You should get together with Brian from WD so we can upload
our webcams along with our data too.

WS is GREAT. I'm really excited about the partnership with him. A great app is about to get even better.

Webcams coming this year. We need to have one more maintenance period to move the Backyard Stations database "to the cloud", then we can rollout a new Backyard Stations registration form and incorporate cameras. This way we can do it and have it all seamlessly integrated into the Backyard Community and also not worry about our server crashing. Smile

I just got an email from Wunderground about some additions to their PWS section they're working on, and I wanted to get your input on them if these are things you'd like us to add as we update our Backyard Stations Registration Page this year.

To celebrate Earth Week, we have launched a new Climate Change Center that presents the public with hard facts about how climate is changing in their local neighborhoods and empowers people to form their own opinions on the climate change debate. The center is now live at wunderground.com/climate.

On this, we've got a couple of similar solutions. We have the Daily Temp Cycle group on our Backyard Community (http://backyard.weatherbug.com/group/dailytempcycle), plus ClimatePrediction.Net is doing something fun with clustered computing we could discuss on the Backyard Site.

We've also been working on some PWS features this month and we have a couple you may want to try out. First, you can now upload an image of your station and it's site. To upload your station's image go to our photo upload page. The second update is that we now have a station status system that will allow you to place a short message on your station's history page letting visitors know if you station is offline, or if you are experiencing a significant weather event. You can add, edit and remove these message on your station's history page or on the station sign up page.

Kinda like the "Station Image" feature. Should we add it when we overhaul the form this year?

Like the idea on the "offline weather stations", but the way our system works is when a station goes "offline", it's simply no longer visible from our site. So is this something we should look at implementing or keep things the way it is?

Welcoming your feedback!

I like the stuff they do, pretty much all of it.

Yea, I got the email from Weather Underground today. I uploaded my station images (KOHAVON11). I'm not sure they needed to get into the global warming debate...  Rolling Eyes

I'm not sure where you want to go with WeatherBug, Nathan. You had a plan here some time ago you were going to take to the powers that be.  Don't know if those are going to get implemented, but severe lot them were ones you said were "inspired" by Weather Underground. Now you want to change directions and copy be inspired by WU's new direction? To quote another company's mantra; Think Different!

The original plan I drafted is definitely the one I'm sticking with. Smile It's the way we're going to get "caught up" to our competitors and offer Backyard Webcams and better Backyard Integration, but we'll still do things in a "uniquely WeatherBug" fashion. Like the "Think Different" company, we won't be the first to offer better Backyard integration and webcams, but we'll offer it in a good way when it happens. Smile It's amazing that it sounds like Wunderground is starting to copy us a little with more "community" oriented features, stuff we've had in place way before now. As for the station messages and pictures, these are minor things and I'm just surveying the weather community to see if "we should add them too", since they're minor things. For all the big stuff though, we'll continue to be inspired by our competition (not just Wunderground but we're looking at other websites too, especially some suggested to me in an email by a really nice contributor on here) Smile, while still being "uniquely WeatherBug".

Ok... My station is no longer showing up on the back yard network.  My data is flowing...Wx Bug is not displaying.  Waiting on all these changes is growing old.  PWS' should be on the main map now! Not hidden in travel weather and then backyard network.  I may pull my data from wx bug this week.

It's not showing up on the map at WeatherBug.com? Send me your Publisher ID and Station Number and I'll have a look (my email is backyard@weatherbug.com).

Not sure if the WB7 glitch has been fixed, and STILL no updates from our team. I'm getting as frustrated as all of you about this and not happy about it. I've got a couple things up my sleeve I'm going to try to get an update on this.

BTW, I'm moving back to Arkansas this weekend, so I'll be without a computer for about a week, but can still troubleshoot from my iPhone. Best way to reach me will be by email since I'll have limited access to the Backyard Community and this forum. Once I get moved and settled in though, our teams and I are going to have to talk.

The data is again being displayed in the back yard network.  At one point WX Bug gave me a software version w/no adds (yers ago) because I gave data.  Is that still available?  Somehow in one of the updates, I have adds again!

Version 6 can run ad-free. I can have my support guy send you the installer to it if you want. Version 7 (which people are testing right now) will have ads until we add support for Plus (or Elite as we may be calling it). You should also be able to run Plus 6 and free 7 side by side. Let me know what you want to do.

Seeing failure. Is everything OK with your publishing app?
