I have been using VWS for just a brief time, and like it so far. I have done a lot of searching but can't find the answer to my question. I would like to know if there is any way to show the parameter unit of measure such as mph, inches, degrees etc on the customized display created for the desktop, much like is shown on the broadcast display portion. I can find no way to do this in the "alpha numeric" option under modify display, or anywhere else. Your help would be appreciated.

If you look in the tags.txt file, usually in the Root directory you'll see "units" for different measurements. For instance ^vhi002^^uni002^ at ^vht002^ is the maximum wind gust for today with uni002 being MPH and vht002 the time it occurred. If you look at my site and then at http://chapalaweather.net/raw.htm you'll see I use a mix, sometimes I enter the unit due to quirks in the way FontPage operates.

Duke,

You can not show the parameter unit of measurement on the desktop.  The desktop just shows a raw number based on the setting you use.  Sounds like it would be a good thing for the author to add though.

Jay,

Thank you for clearing that up. I suspected that was the case, and I agree that would be a nice feature.

Sorry, I was writing and not thinking and didn't tell the whole story, with the dbase crash I was preoccupied. What you do is create your custom page, let VWS render it as a html page and use it as a screen saver. Now, you don't have the functionality of a regular desktop, but try this one http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/djmclean/htmlscreensaver.html and see if it will do what you need.
