Another thing, I successfully sell ads and get anywhere from 150-1200 unique users per day so we all win.

LOL, I can't get over 50 unique visitors in a day.... to my site unless the weather is changing for the worse, or if a stronger than usual earthquake happens.

It has taken my 5 1/2 years to get this many users.  I have my current conditions pages automatically refresh every minute so a lot of people just open the site and leave it open.  I talk my site up everywhere I go as I imagine most of us do.

I think when I finish my site, it will be for a broader area than just my county because I would get very little views even on stormy weather days (There are around 10,000 in my county)

You always can use out going link advertising...
Clicks link > View ad > Continues to other site

Example Link 1 Top Banner
Example Link 2 Side Banner
Example Link 3 Intermission

I been using this ad method for years now.
The users on my sites prefer this over annoying ugly bulky banners and text ads.
Plus, adblocks like Adblock Plus addon for Firefox cant block this type of ads, which means more money for you!
Linkbucks.biz

Perfect setup,
Full Page Script with Top banner Ads (Intermission ads make more money, but annoys the user more)
