Ericc I feel your pain I have been in your shoes. I can only tell you from my experience and I may be stating the obvious but make double sure you are loading the correct one for your unit. If you are sure then it may take a couple of times like it was in my case. Once you load it let it sit for a while, don't unplug it don't do anything for a hour. It shouldn't take that long but just to be safe don't touch it. I found once it loads it will power off on it's own and load the update after you upload it to the console and power back on and it takes a few minutes for it to reconnect and do its thing. After an hr if it hasn't restored connect power cycle it and let it sit for a while. Like I said I know what you're going through. That is what I had to do with mine but I was able to get working again. Good luck.

There is an option to clear all stored data which I did after the unit failed to process or detect the wireless data.   I waited 24 hours and the unit still had not received any data or sync'd with the ISS.

I've been in setup mode many times, everything is correct. Remember this unit was working perfectly without error before doing the firmware update.  I've reinstalled the firmware update 3 times so far. Each time the update has been without error.  I've removed power for an hour from both the ISS and the console and let it sit another 12 hours without it receiving any data.

I've run the unit with and without the data logger also.

How do you get access to the beta firmware?

Thanks
Eric

"Unit has not received data" - what exactly does the console display show?  Barometer?  Temperature?

Asked before:  What firmware version does the console say it has?

What channel number is the ISS set to, and what channel number is the console set to?

Just asking - when you "ran the unit with and without the data logger", did you follow the book procedure for doing that?

What does the receive indicator on the console indicate?

Removed power from the ISS?  Why/how?  That indicates that you can easily access the ISS.  Try the test mode?  Is the light flashing in test mode?  Put the console (battery powered) near the ISS and see if it receives anything.

Have you tried the troubleshooting procedures in the manuals?

How to get the Beta?  You have to contact Davis.

Just an update.. After the fifth firmware reprogramming the unit started to receive bad packet data.  An improvement from receiving NO packet data.  20 Hours later the unit finally sync'd with the ISS and appears to be operating properly once again.

I have no idea what could be going on with their firmware or the tools.  I won't be trusting their updated in the future for sure unless I have a clear path to revert the changes.

I don't think Davis offers a revert path when they introduce an update.  You should retain a copy of the 1.90 update for the future if you ever plan on reverting.  Also I can't remember anyone trying to revert.

What's the current error rate?

If you save the 1.90 file (as previously suggested), you can go back to it in the future.

And I really do not recall anybody else having that sort of problem with a VP2 console firmware update.  I know that doesn't help you, of course, but your bad experience doesn't mean there is a massive quality problem.

Did you forget the topic of the thread?

No sense of keeping a copy of 1.90 since it has caused problems loading. You would be just feeding fire with fire should you have problems with another update. I am going to play by the if it ain't broke don't fix it method when they release a new one.

Nope - but I did forget that you started the thread, so that's two people with after-1.90-reception-issues.

Am I correct that the "fix" in both cases was either: (a) do it again until it actually works; or (b) wait long enough and it will start receiving?

The fix is to re-flash the unit multiple times until it starts working.   If it's not receiving data it never will.   If the unit starts to receive to bad packet data then eventually it may sync up.  If it's not receiving ANY data it can't possible sync up..  In that case,  flash the firmware again and again until it starts working.
