If anyone would like to try it I have a new application that reads an IP cam or any web .jpg image. So far I have tried it with Axis and Stardot cams. It can overlay temperature and wind from weatherunderground XML or NOAA weather stations (use wundermap to find a station). Makes time-lapse video with upload. Uploads still images to either of 2 FTP sites. It has a 30 day trial. Any feedback is appreciated. SebecTec IP cam download: www.sebectec.com/ipcamExamples - you would pasted these into the GUI Stardot - USC Roach Cam: http://129.252.89.30/netcam.jpg Axis - Tokyo Times tower: http://221.255.120.171/axis-cgi/jpg/image.cgi-Mike

Hi, take a look at the settings under "set up processing" on the Video tab page. If you want it to search subfolders there is a checkbox for that. The default setting is to process only images created today. Use the calendar or process all jpg image button. I think the processed images should all be the the same aspect ratio. Sorry there is no manual as yet.

There seems to be an issue with the license manager. If you had previously installed the SebecTec program for the Olympus camera it won't issue a new 30 days for the IP version. A fresh insall will get 30 days. Is that the case? I will see if I can correct that and issue a new build. May take a few days.

Re mencoder - make sure when making a video that there are photos in the video source folder and that they all have he same aspect ratio. In general, you should create a folder just for the downloaded images on the Time-Lapse & FTP tab page and use the same folder for Source Images on the Video tab page.

I see some difference betwen our settings.
For example I have set it to process the images at 23:59 and I have ticked in the option date range.
And I only do a movie once a day.
You could try that and see if that's working.

Will this only work with IP cameras or can it be used with USB too?

It can read some IP cams and can also read the .jpg image from a website. So if your USB cam is uploading an image the software can read it back, archive and make the time-lapse. Direct USB is coming. -Mike

I'm currently using the free version of sebectec webcam version 3.2.3 software and all works well, I have found a glitch, though, when I decided to make .flv videos instead of .avi to make it easier to publish on my web page. The flv videos have color problems - with the avi's the colors seem to be true, i.e. the plants are green, etc and with the flv version some of the plants are sort of blue. Is there come sort of adjustment that could be made to remedy that of is it just the nature of flv's?
Another question it there a way to stream the avi's from a web page? If so my question above is moot. Thanks

You can try increasing the bit rate and see if that makes a difference in the video quality. The "payfor" versions - IP cam and SP-500 versions have just been updated with an .mp4 video file option. You could try that format and see if it makes a difference. I don't yet have the .mp4 option in the free version.

Mike so far I love it. Question. If I wanted to create 7 videos, one for each day of the week, and link to them on a web page, is that possible? In other words, after video 7, it starts over and overwrites video 1.

It's not currently setup to make a new name for each day. I could think about having that as an option to upload and cycle the name over N-days.
What you are asking for could be done external to the program by using a script to copy the file and rename it each day and then upload. Or it might be possible to do that on the server using a php script. I haven't used php much so I can't help there.

Anyone needing custom script work including php, I'd highly recommend Dave Tuplin at: http://www.dwgsoftware.com/He has done many scripts for my site and I couldn't be happier. You'll get a professional job for a fair price.

You don't really need any PHP code, a simple windows script could be setup to take the file on a given day and rename it to like monday.wmv, each day of the week could be covered, then all you need to do is automate it using scheduler (or something like that) and upload to your site.
