Just switched to Verizon FIOS. Most of my pc's have static IP addresses. Couldn't find anything in quick search, so I had read about Google DNS and decided to try.
Any downside? Everything seem ok.
Thanks

Google seems to drop services if they are not a raging success.  FYI  I use DynDNS.

How current is your router?  Most have DynDNS built in.  You just have to get a free account and put that info to your router, and it comes with a third-level domain that you can port-forward to any of your LAN PCs, ie ed2kayak.dyndns.org:xxxxx will route to wherever you have some type of server software running, just forward the inbound xxxxx to the (static as you say) IP and preferred port of your PC or device running the server software.

Sorry I  was not more specific.
I was setting up a static ip  address.
On the properties tab you can select s preferred DNS server. I didn't have a list from my ISP available, so I as alternative,. I was in a hurry, I remembered google had. So I'm using on one pc:
8:8:8:8
Its working fine.

Google has a utility http://code.google.com/p/namebench/  Which will allow you to determine which DNS gives you the best service.  In my case the 8.8.4.4 google DNS (which gets less use) was fastest.
