My UV Sensor fell over the other day (upside down) and in the tropical rain water has entered it and its not working anymore:(

I can literally shake the water out of it!!

Anyone know how to open this thing up so I can try repairing it? Ive removed the two screws on the inside (after opening battery cover) and I think i should be able to just pull the bottom out of the rest of the body, but I think because of water im not able to do this (the pressure difference thing) and I dont want to risk breaking the fragile sun damaged plastic by using pliers...

Is there a different way to open this? Or any other suggestions?

Perhaps you could put it in a big bowl of rice which will draw the moisture out. (it works for cell phones)

I buy big jars of DampRid down here at Home Depot etc., we put them under cabinets etc. to suck moisture and keep things from smelling too funky, it's just a desiccant but maybe rice would work as well.

What I did when my cell phone too a did was this.  After removing the battery, I dunked it in rubbing alcohol and shook it vigorously and then dunked it again.  I used a hair dryer on cool and dried it a while then let it sit for several hours.  It worked and everything has been working for a couple of years now.

I had read this procedure somewhere  Question

When I went to work as an instrument tech for Atomics International back in the early 60's we had a power wash station and a big metal cabinet with heater coils in the bottom. Equipment would come in from White Sands etc. with dust, dirt, rats nests etc and we'd power wash it and put it in the dryer for a few days which ran at about 115 degrees as I remember, worked great, but then that was back in the vacuum tube days - ha.
