I have a mostly consitent error that occurs when VWS is connected to my Vantage Pro 2 USB data logger and the PC comes out of sleep. The error is something like "can't communicate with station" and the only way I can fix it is to reboot the machine.

Is there a way to restore the communications between the PC and the USB data logger without rebooting? Maybe restart a service or something like that?

one solution would be to exit vws before the pc goes to sleep
so that then vws gets the missing data when the pc is asleep from the weather station
(i.e while the pc is asleep you are going to be missing data from the weather station)
or
do not have the pc go to sleep

Not sure if this will help or not. Take a look at the Ambient VWS wiki pages. I suspect you are simply losing connection due to the the loss of USB power during the sleep session. The following article may help address that problem.

Good info. The right thing is to definitely shut down VWS before letting the PC go to sleep. I sometimes forget though and was hoping there was an elegant technical solution to regain communication without restarting.

Strangely, about 10% of the time the communication works after coming out of sleep and the Data Logger seems to pick up right where it left off. No missing data.
