Newbie here...  with Davis Vantage Vue station, VWS 14.01 p46, on an HP laptop running XP Home edition.

I'm attempting to build a web site using the broadcast.jpg.  These are my setting in VWS.

Modify Display-->Broadcast display settings, Display Panel on Desktop is checked, and Create jpg file is checked

Settings-->Jpeg File Settings - I'm picking up Jpeg file from c:\vws\root

Internet-->JPG File Settings - I'm pointing to my server address

This is my html statment to pull in the files - <p> <img src='vws007.jpg"/>  <img src="broadcast.jpg"/></p>

My problem is that neither jpg gets updated.  The images get pulled from the root directory but the web site display is a couple of days old.  The vws root directory doesn't seem to have the most current info.  The broadcast and vws007 jpgs in the regular vws display are up to date and being updated based on my schedule.

Is there and place else I should enter info?

Any words of wisdom greatly appreciated.

Jim

I'm not sure if you are saying that c:\vws\root is updating or not.  Do you have the FTP Automated Schedule set.  Internet->FTP Jpeg Settings.  Also make sure your FTP settings are correct.  Internet->FTP Login Settings.  Can you FTP anything else with VWS or is it just those two files?

Thanks for the response, Jay

Yes - it doesn't seem boardcast.jpg in the c:\vws\root directory is getting updated.  The date created on the jpg in there right now is 11//9/11.  Strangely, the vws007.jpg has a dates of 11/10/11 at 12:26 pm, just what it's supposed to have but doesn't seem to be getting out to my online directory.  I have the automated schedule set to five minutes and I can transfer other file, including jpgs to my online site.  I suspect this is one of those problems that will result in a very loud 'DUH' when it gets straightened out!!

Jim,

Not sure where to go from here.  Sounds like you have the settings correct and you can FTP other files to the server.  Not sure why only these two would make a difference.

Hi Jim,
In my past experience working with VWS, I recall that the updated .jpg files were usually put into the main c:/vws directory and not to c:/vws/root. I would look there and see if that is where they are located and point the uploads to those files. I dont have VWS in front of me, but I'm pretty sure that is where you will find them.

Take Care,
Mike

Thanks, Mike

I'll take a look in a few minutes.  Right now, while I was in VWS Settings-->Jpeg File Settings, I noticed something.  The 'Jpeg File Location' displays c:\
When I hit the 'Update Jpegs Now' bar I receive the following error -

Jpeg conversion error - 10 Failed to write  c:\\c:vws\root\broadcast.jpg to file

Any idea what that might be?  When I try to clear c:\ out of the 'Jpeg File Location' display I can't - apparently clear is not allowed.

So I finally was able to clear out 'Jpeg File Location' in ' Jpeg File Settings'.  But when I hit 'Update Jpeg Now', I received the aforesaid Jpeg Conversion error - 10 but with the following notation - 'failed to write c:\vws\root\c:vws\root\broadcast.jpg to file'  Notice there's  no '|' backslash after the second c:
Sure looks like directories are getting piled up

Mike

Your were right - there is a broadcast.jpg in the main VWS directory and it has the time and date of the one that shows up in my web display.

Good deal Jim. So everything is working correctly now? Just a note, if you are creating a jpg file for uploading, in the settings section under jpg file settings, you only type in the location of where you want to put any jpg files. The syntax would be c:\vws\directory with no ending backslash. Now under the modify display menu make sure the create broadcast.jpg file is checked and type in the name and location of where you want the file to be created. If you leave it blank, it will create it in the c:\vws directory. Then upload the jpg using the menu choice internet, ftp file upload choice.

Take care,
Mike
