Ken,
for you is simple because you are a genius with php and javascript language  Very Happy , but for me it's a puzzle  Question
Two questions after this programming lesson on which I can only bow:

1) How to turn off/on Javascript?
2) ....something in wd settings....but i haven't changed anything ... i have only updated it to the latest version.
Probably an issue in this version?
Once again thanks Ken...you're a friend!

Alessandro
Thanks for the kind words, Alessandro, but I just know enough PHP/JavaScript to be dangerous .. not be a genius Smile

I use Firefox with the NoScript plugin, so it makes it easy to turn off JavaScript for a single site with just a few clicks.
For IE and other browsers, this list is helpful on how to ENABLE.. just do the opposite to DISABLE
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/howtoscript

Easiest is using Firefox with NoScript (IMHO)

If you just updated WD, then do check your settings using http://saratoga-weather.org/wxtemplates/setup-WD.php as a guide .. it's the snapshot of my settings that seem to work fine.

You're very welcome, Alessandro!

Best regards,
Ken

Ken, will the version used for Scott's template get these updates as well?

Thanks.
Hi John,
That's not a question I can answer.. Scott is the author of the alternative dashboard set and is best equipped to know if he needs an update.  Since the alternative-dashboard is really designed to work with Weather-Display (as the other weather software are missing many of the tags used in the display), it's likely that a small update incorporating the newer fixupConditions() function would result.

Best regards,
Ken

Ken,
i've given an eye to your guide....fantastic!
I've seen that i have ticked a lot of graph boxes in WD settings that probably i've never used.
I've also seen that i used the old method about conversion from testags.txt to testtags.php with custom menu....now i've ticked the correct box in the wd main setup.
But come to metar setup.
Nothing happens. My Metar text on my home dashboard is the same "---".
Can be a temporary issue of my nearby metar?
I've attached two images about it.
Regards,

Alessandro

Hi Alessandro,

Well, the metar you're using is reporting
Quote
2011/11/30 22:50 LIRQ 302250Z 00000KT 6000 NSC 04/03 Q1029
and the 'NSC' means 'No Significant Clouds' which is usually intrepreted to be 'Partly Cloudy' (as I do with the get-metar-conditions-inc.php) see my test at http://saratoga-weather.org/wxtemplates/Test/wxmetar-it.php

I don't know what Weather-Display does when it encounters 'NSC' as the cloud conditions.. that's a question for Brian, I think.

Best regards,
Ken

i'll wait tomorrow to see if my metar wake up.
Thanks again for your patience  Embarassed

Alessandro

Edit 01/12/2011 03.20pm UTC+1 :  Dancing Dancing My metar works ok now .... the "issue" was the failure of the decode "NSC" term by WD.

How does one get the AQI to work in 6.51?  I got it on true in settings, but all I ever get is "data not available".  EDIT, oops, never mind.  I spoke too seen again.  I reviewed instructions and got it working.

Scott et All,
I see a small issue with the update time line on the latest release, 6.51 of the dashboard. See the line below:
Updated: 12/05/2011 @ 9:25:00 am 09:28:39 (4 sec ago)
As you can see, there are now two times on the line.
Should it be this way? If so thats ok, just do not recall ever seeing this before.

Take Care,
Mike

Either you found the problem and fixed it or it's not showing up on IE8.  It looks fine when I checked it just now!

Yes I found the problem. I did not update the ajaxWDwx.js file when I upgraded to 6.51 and that was the result. Once I replaced that file, all was well. Thank You!

Strange happening this morning. Snow is set to false, no precip at all, yet I get the attached.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Hi John,
The icon will show the snowflake when the temperature is at or below the setpoint that is in the altajaxdashboardconfig6.php file.

Here is the line that sets this icon:
$showSnowTemp  = '33';         // display Snow instead of Rain when temp (F) is <= this temperature.

Hope this helps.

Remembered that setting after I made the post (been somewhat backwards recently!). A 30.6° low this morning was what tripped the snowflake. The temp has finally gone above that mark, but it's expected to be a bit lower tomorrow. My new 0° setting should keep it quiet.

Thanks.

This new problem leaves me stumped for sure.  Across one narrow section below maps nothing works now, meaning can't switch between metric and imperial.  And on opposite side no time ago shown.  It's frozen 0.  Has anyone had this trouble before and know how to solve it?  URL is:  http://stillwaterweather.com/wx/wxindex.php

Bunty,
The ajaxWDws.js is not finding the clientraw file. Make sue this line in the ajaxWDws.js points to where you are having the clientraw.txt on your website.

var clientrawFile = './clientraw.txt'; // location of clientraw.txt relative to this page on website

Mine is in my root so that is why I have the above setting.

OK, things are working now.  I took a fresh ajaxWDws.js, set it where appropriate and sent it up.  Thanks a bunch!

Actually, when the wetbulb temperature is below 32F or 0C, the image changes to indicate that any precip will now be in the form of snow, not rain.  As soon as it gets above that, it will change back to the rain image.  It has nothing to do with the snow temp setting anymore.

Thanks, Scott. Missed that detail somewhere. Will change it back (not that it matters).

Even though some places about 10 minutes away from me did have snow on the ground Monday AM, it's a bit 'annoying' to see that snowflake when ya don't really like snow (said the Grinch)!

Yup, I know what you mean but it was still cold enough that if it had dropped something from the sky it would have been snow!  You could remove the code that switches it or copy the rain icon to the snow icon to avoid it!

Scott

I need a little help, it's been 4 yrs since I first had to set this up and it was fine. Now that I am getting my site going again I am upgrading all the scripts. I am running the most recent template Ken has, most recent dashboad and WD. For someone reason and I have looked and searched everywhere but it is just not working. All I am getting is "Note: ajax-dashboard not included since weather station not yet specified." I have seen nothing in any of the read me pages, install docs anything that addresses this. I also can't get testtags.php to upload and I have tried for hours and everything is set correct as far as I know. Is there some advice someone can lend or some docs someone I can read to address this?

-Thanks

I got the dashboard to show, I downloaded the WD plugin but my A.D.D. kicked in and pulled me to something else... Look shinny things... see happened again. Anyways, I forgot to upload it. Uploaded, changed the settings and all is good now. Just need some tweaking.

Only problem I am having now is WD sending the testtags. Which the FTP is working but I don't know what it's sending or to where and have DOUBLE DOUBLE checked all the settings. I don't remember it being this difficult the first time.

-Thanks
