Far, far east Mesa, AZ

« on: August 30, 2011, 12:08:23 AM »

I have had my VP2 station for about five months now and recently got Cumulus set up to collect data on the computer.  Now I am at the point where I am looking to get my info on a personal site in addition to the WU and PWS sites.  Doing some research I came across references to the script files from Saratoga-Weather and have downloaded everything I think I need.  Right now I am in the process of editing the scripts for my specifics (thanks Ken) and have installed XAMPP on my Win7 machine to test everything out but have come to the point where I need to ask for help.  I've read the tutorials on Saratoga-Weather and everything seems to be going together well but I am unsure how the files should be laid out as far as a directory structure.  I believe the main scripts should be in the top-level and other items should probably be in sub-directories but I'm not sure quite how to arrange them and haven't come across any good info on it.  Right now when I test the index script I get some errors that are probably the result of things not being in the proper place and none of the weather data shows, again probably because it is not in the proper place.  Any advice or help that the members can provide will be appreciated, and I'd like to thank Ken, Kevin and everyone else for all the work putting the scripts and plugins together.

Made a bit of headway on this - I am now getting data from Cumulus into the page but I still have some errors as shown below:

Going back thru the instruction pages on Saratoga Weather I can't seem to find anything related to this so if anyone has any input I'd be grateful.  Also I am not currently able to get the forecast graphics displayed when I view that page but I'm not as concerned with that as with the above problem.

Those errors have to do with the date & time settings.
The first place to check is in the Settings.php file. Check the variable at  $SITE['tz'] =  and make sure it's set according to the list at List of Supported Timezones

Is XAMPP up to date with php5 or newer?

Curly, thanks for the reply.  I checked the timezone setting against the list and it was correct, re-ran the php test script and this is what it returned:

Does PHP work?
Yes, it does. PHP Version 5.3.5

To run the WXGRAPHIC script, you need GD enabled in PHP.
Current GD status:

    GD support: yes
    GD Version: bundled (2.0.34 compatible)
    FreeType Support: yes
    FreeType Linkage: with freetype
    T1Lib Support: no
    GIF Read Support: yes
    GIF Create Support: yes
    JPEG Support: yes
    PNG Support: yes
    WBMP Support: yes
    XPM Support: no
    XBM Support: yes
    JIS-mapped Japanese Font Support: no

If you don't see "Yes, it does." in large font above, then PHP is not enabled.

So it appears I am OK there.  Anything else I could check?

Those were my top two checks.

Maybe the file ajax-gizmo.php somehow got corrupted? Have you replace it with a fresh file?

Without the files on the internet, it's sort of tough to pinpoint the cause of the errors.
There are some built in error reporting comments for the page that may give a clue. By viewing the page source, some errors are reported between <!--  and   -->.
This may also indicate the forecast issue also.
