Hi,
I've downloaded and compiled the wx200d software on Fedora 15 to interface with my WMR968 OS system, but can't get it to work.

The serial port is on ttyS0:

serial8250: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
00:05: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A

I've tried connecting like this:

# ./wx200d -s /dev/ttyS0 -w /usr/share/wx200d/

It appears to record some data:

# ls -la /usr/share/wx200d/
total 24
drwxr-xr-x   2 root root 4096 Aug 29 00:00 .
drwxr-xr-x 209 root root 4096 Aug 28 01:17 ..
-rw-r--r--   1 root root  308 Aug 28 23:59 20110828.bin.gz
-rw-r--r--   1 root root   33 Aug 29 00:00 20110828.tab.gz
-rw-r--r--   1 root root 2941 Aug 29 10:23 20110829.bin
-rw-r--r--   1 root root   40 Aug 29 05:41 20110829.tab

However, when I try to use wx200 to read from the device, it just hangs.

Is there anything that has to be done to set the serial line speed or baud rate? What would cause it to just hang when trying to read from the device?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi,

Can't say I've heard of that software, and it looks quite spartan!  If you are interesting in trying something else, I would recommend WeatherWview from http://www.wviewweather.com/

It's quite feature rich, and you can easily run your own site with it.    Ofcourse, depending on your needs etc...

This is what I am running atm http://frozenpenguin.dyndns.org/weather

Thanks for the info. I found wview a few days ago and managed to get it running. Only problem is that the PC I've connected it to is in the basement, and doesn't receive the weather station signals so well Smile

Have to move one or the other Smile

Thanks again,
Dave

Dave,

NP and glad you got it working.  Smile

Distance between console and PC can be an issue for sure, seeing how USB is limited in length (5 meters).    There are however extenders that can be connected and passed over your network.  I have no experience with them (reliability) but it is an option.  There also exists USB over powergrid adapters now which could be neat if you dont have cables running in the house.   Just throwing out some ideas Very Happy

wx200 reads the output on the network port set up by wx200d.

wxread and wx200d read your actual weather station.
