Mother board on my main every day computer died. So gathered up enough parts to put together a temp fix till new one gets here first time I'm not building a home brew.
So noticed that a balloon was popping up after computer was running a while saying the computer is now connected to the network, come to think about it that has happened on my other computers on the network. So I check the network card Properties and click on configure button and then the Power Managment box. There it was a check box Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power This may be something that a laptop needs check but not my weather computer or main computer I just don't remember that option being there. My weather computer is old and it doesn't need to be thinking if it should turn the network on or off, beside turning the power on and off to electronic is not a good thing to do. Just ask my old Ausus that died that the computer that doesn't run 24/7 to save power.

Yes, I've seen that and have always had that option un-selected along with the other "hibernate" power management options.  I like deciding when the machine and/or components are off or on myself.

Yeah I've always done the hibernate screen saver USB power management option my self for some reason I never gave it or over looked other devices for reasons unknown. But I think I've got it down now  Rolling Eyes

Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

That only appears for devices that Windows knows it can power down, which would part of the config in the inf file. It's quite possible it was not there originally, but showed up later after a driver update. Such option seems to often be enabled by default, which is just one reason why it's always a good idea to review the config of any device after installing a new driver.
