I just got me 2308 station today and on the vane there is the letters for north, south, and so on. If I mount the vane on the east side of the house so that the e is facing east, I will have problems with trees. I wanted to mount it on the west side of my house where there will be no obstructions at all. So my question is, can I unscrew the 3 small screws at the top of the wind vane and turn the top so it will point in conjunction with the letters when I mount it on the west side of the house?

I hope that I understand what you are saying correctly, but no, you can not unscrew it to reposition it.

No matter where you mount it, east needs to point toward the east, north toward north etc otherwise your wind directions will be wrong. Use a fascia mounted tv aerial pipe and then you can rotate your anemometer around it to align it correctly.

click here and go to the setup page to see what I mean.

I apologise in  advance if I have misunderstood you.
