wind speed on wu map?

is there a way to get the map to display a wind speed value rather than the tail feathers?

or in the met office's WOW can you see wind speed as a value?

I'm trying to get young children to look at wind speeds on the maps from weather stations but they find the feathers difficult.

WOW uses a marginally longer arrow.

do you mean for a site provided by wunderground?
if so then I would think you would need to see if wunderground could change the format?
