Thanks! All of this information makes it easier to provide better data to the viewers. I hope the folks in Kyoto don't get too much damage from this storm.

The next steps in improving this website are:

1: Improve the information provided to the average viewer.

2: Increase traffic; getting the number of viewers up to the point where advertisers would be interested will allow more low-level improvements.

Neither of these will be easy, but I'll keep working on it.

The website I had my site on - shut down without notice. I hate to mention names, but Earl Cahill was the guy who ran that server. Since then, I've had the site at another free webhost; they'd love me to post a link to their site, but I woudn't recommend it to anyone. But it seems to be stable; as long as you don't need to interact with customer service or trust their advertising claims, they're mostly OK. Here's where it's at now: http://manilaweather.webatu.com

The weather software is still - let's say it's less than perfect. The moderators here got after me for telling the truth, so I'm not sure what to do - should I warn others about the problems they'll have, or should I pretend everything is wonderful and full of fluffy ponies? I'd prefer to tell the truth.

After not having any option for contacting support for so long, now they've got a support page - with a form that will never load. No updates; they've cashed your check, what more do you want from them? I keep getting warnings about "icon1.jpg" that doesn't exist and never will - and the rainfall that is displayed is completely screwed up. Trying to keep VWS up - along with VWSAPRS (which is another bugfest) is becoming a full-time job.

I don't care about how much some vendor supports this site - if they're shipping defective products, people need to know. VWS has some serious problems, and after a year they've done nothing to correct them. They wouldn't respond to support requests, and now they won't even accept support requests. This isn't acceptable, it's fraud. Selling something that you promise will do all the described functions, then providing something that is somewhat less; that's fraud, and it's not acceptable.  If the moderators want to support this fraud, then they're welcome to do so.

Hello from Saginaw, Michigan.

Hi there! I've been doing some work on the weather system the last few days and it's much, much better now. I deleted Heavy Weather and VWSAPRS - and replaced both of them with WUHU. It wasn't perfect at first, but WUHU's author worked with me to perfect the way it interacts with VWS and now it works great. The CPU utilization is down from 50% t0 11% and everything is working - better than before.

Now if I could just get Ed to put a couple of fixes into VWS I'd be thrilled. Getting rid of Heavy Weather eliminated that stupid file deadlock between HW and VWS that prevented the system from successfully rebooting without being coaxed by a human. That VWS rainfall problem is still there, though - and it's a nasty one.

I think I have the WUHU also. I had heavy weather with my old computer and la crosse weather station. My old computer had windows xp. But when I got my new computer with windows 7, my heavy weather wouldn't work right getting my data onto the computer and web. I almost thought of getting a new weather station, but the one program WUHU.exe seems to work ok for me, for now. Take care if that typhoon heads your way.

Thanks for the thought - Doksuri missed us by quite a distance. We've been getting some intermittent heavy rain - but that's about it. Doksuri is headed for China now and I hope nobody there is harmed; this is a minor storm, so it shouldn't be a problem for them.

There's another one forming up - it's about two days away and I'll be keeping an eye on it. There's about 28 of these "tropical cyclonic storms" that go through here every year. We don't often get more than some rain from them; we're a very small target in a very big ocean.
