   NASA is holding an expert chat on lightning tonight (23rd) from 7pm-8pm.  The chat window will open about 30 minutes before the chat.  Here is link to chat window.  Must have JAVA.  Dr. Richard Blakeslee will answer any questions about lightning safety, global distribution, and relationship of lightning to severe storms.

Maybe can ask Dick to redirect lightning away from weather station sensors. Just a thought...
