On GR3, why does the maximum for echo tops continually change?

I may be wrong, I frequently am, but I always thought that the Product Details shown showed max or min values registered in the VCP.  That is just what I have thought.  I could be wrong as I said.  If it was anything else it should not change since the ECHOTops are an integration of all the scan angles. This has driven me nuts cause they have never updated the help section to include that part of the window.  At least on mine.  So, I just ignore it and mouse over the radar window and read the values.

I have never gotten a value past that changing product value, whether 61 or 48.

There was rain here a little while ago and it said 19KFT.  There is no way that the product only goes to 19KFT.  But it would make sense that the tops were at 19KFT.
I don't know.  I don't want to waste the time to ask on the GRL3 owners forum.  I just go with the mouse over value.

What do you mean by mouse over value? With the icons?

You move your mouse over the different colors on the radar and at the bottom of the screen it tells you the value.  Another part down  there tells you the Lat/Long and distance from home or radar.

The value in the "Product Details" box is the maximum (and, for velocity, minimum) value being detected by that radar in the scan you are viewing. (i.e. "+51 dBZ" would mean that somewhere in the scan 51 dBZ reflectivity was detected) So it would make sense for them to constantly be changing.
