Is anyone here familiar with this site, or with Kevin Martin who also runs Tornado Risk Analysis Model, and Weather Space? He seems to be in some hot water...

I looked at the SCWA website. It looked ok but it seemed that some did not function.  It has not been updated since 30 May 2011. What kind of trouble is he in?

National Weather Service put out a disclaimer:  "NWS is the sole official voice of the U.S. Government for warnings of hazardous weather, including tornadoes, hurricanes, winter storms, floods and others."
http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/notification/pns11martin.htm dated Fri June 3, 2011
NWS posted this information on their FaceBook status page.
NWS has no association with Mr. Kevin Martin, the Southern California Weather Authority, or Tornado Risk Analysis Model. The weather forecasts and products distributed by them may have formatting or contain content that could be confused with that of NWS. Mr. Martin’s weather products have no connection with nor are they the products of NWS."
There is some good, interesting, amusing, annoying information posted in the 325, and counting, comments to the NWS post on Facebook.

For the NWS to issue a statement like that, he must have really pushed the wrong buttons!   Rolling Eyes

Posted on his website, it says NWS employees are now forbidden from going to his sites or social media sites while on duty. Seems he has posted IP addresses of government computers, and has created videos of NWS offices blowing up. Which of course is really a stupid thing to do. I saw some of his "products", and they have the look and feel of NWS statements, including going with the ALL CAPS. It almost looks like he is taking the NWS products, making a few edits, then calling them his own, hard to say for sure. Anyone that uses his warnings and blows off official warnings from the NWS are taking a great risk IMHO. He seems like a complete nutjob.

Don't know about his history Kid, but we did indeed get a directive from HQ this week to basically stay away from his sites and not contact him while on duty.  Shocked
