my status cron went off at 8:25.  Manually checked my status page, it would not load cause testtag.php was corrupt.  Went upstairs, pc is fine.  Fling appears to be chugging. Manually ftp'd to godadddy.  REally slow, wont complete directory listing.  Tried another pc on another isp to make sure it wasnt me.

Guess I wait... strange about the testtags... guess it failed in the middle of the upload.

My Godaddy hosting was down for over an hour yesterday and was down for about 20 minutes this morning.  I guess they bank that .1% of the 99.9% up-time promise and use it all at once.....  I really appreciate their customer service as well.  They let me call long distance (at my expense) and wait 20 minutes to talk to tech support to report their web server is down.  I so appreciate the opportunity to fund more of Bob Parson's African hunting trips..... Evil or Very Mad

Greg,
I noticed the one this morning too.  We must have been on the same server cluster, or it was wider spread.  I sent an online support email. Of course got the response several hours later, that it looked fine to the primary analyst.

Cant complain about service to cost with them.

For me though, I wish it would just quit ftp'ing completely, it was that partial testtags that totally shut down my site.  I can handle stale data for a while, but "unexpected end of blah blah in testtags...." is annoying.

You know how sometimes a victim of a crime calls the police and when they arrive, somehow the victim ends up in the back of the police car.... old parking tickets... a little baggy in a drawer not quite closed...............

See below. Got this from Godaddy.   So there was "nothing wrong" with my ftp when it was not working last night, but several hours later I get flagged for having too many files in one folder?  Will post in WD section to solve the main source of this issue........

Dear Sir/Madam,

Regarding your hosting account mackweather.com:

It has come to our attention that your mackweather.com hosting account currently has an improper directory structure. More specifically, the following directories have greater than 1,024 files plus folders combined:

/html 1243 files and 39 directories

The amount of files/folders in this directory is causing an issue with backing up your account, as well as maintenance operations on the shared server. Each directory should have a total maximum of 1,024 files and folders. Any more than this can cause file system latency and slowness when accessing FTP and hosting from the Web.

We respectfully request that by 05/22/2011 you reduce your directories to have no more than 1024 files and folders combined.

If this is not completed by then, we will have to bring the directories into compliance on your behalf. Additionally, we ask that any scripts that automatically create these files be optimized to not create more than this amount. Please note, further excessive directory structures could be subject to an account suspension.

Yes, sorry.  I brought down the largest hosting company in the world by having 1282 files and directories in my root, vs the allowed 1024, being over said limit for at least 257 days....   Laughing

but I swear I did not know that 6'4" guy was living in that compound...  Shocked

I never knew there was a limit to the number of files allowed in root.  Gonna have to check that on mine.

I dont think it appears to be a root rule, just any folder, my root just happens to be the offender.
