Works great, now I need to go through all the settings and see what is what. You can view the cam at http://www.stetsonweather.com/wxcam.php. I have it running, once I get all the time lapse figured out I imagine I will have another purchase to make. Good product, I really like it. Todd

I've noticed today a number of dark and very grainy images that have been displayed. Wondering why it takes one perfect shot, then gets really bad for a couple, then back to normal. Maybe a setting I missed or misconfigured, any ideas?

I would set the brightness/contrast sliders to neutral if they are not there now. Otherwise I don't know what that would be.

Very strange, everything is set as you indicate. I noticed during the morning hours the picture would go from good to slightly grainy to more grainy, then dark, then start back again. In the afternoon all the pictures were normal. I have played with some of the settings and will check it tomorrow to see what happens. The movie turned out like crap, looked like the images were jumping all over with all the grainy/dark ones mixed in.
Are there any help files or instructions on how to configure the settings? I know when I first started using VM95, someone had written something up which was very helpful.

That's the first report I've had for what you describe. Can you post the video? I have used the C-4000 with no problems. Help file is coming, not there yet.

I honestly don't know what it is. I have gone back to my XP box running VM95 for now. I reviewed the 800 images and about 15-20% of them have exposure issues. One of the things I like with VM95 is that it periodically takes a set of pictures and figures the best settings. Maybe it is my C4000, but the pictures now look fine. I think I will install this on the XP box and see if that fixes it.

I am still on VM95 for now. I have downloaded the Sebectec software and should load it tonight. I'm hoping it was just some configuration on my Dell with Win 7 64 bit. Should have an update tomorrow evening.

Mine has gotten a bit funky lately and I had to drop one of the four cams. The one C765 'Star cam' seems to go to sleep during the day and not recover lately. I've also been dropping IDs now and then but I think that's a USB voltage problem across 3 standard extensions. I've been working on that one box lately, moving/sorting files etc, so my presence might be disrupting the flow. Seems to be OK if I stay away and keep a lot of empty space on the drive. No time to play with it tho'. Replacing all the valves and cleaning up all the plumbing on the pool hardware is keeping me busy.

I've been inching ahead with version updates. The latest is 3.1.9 which can pick up the xml weather info from WeatherUnderground and put on the image. Find those settings on the Camera Tab page. -Mike

Well due to a weather laptop change, I now have a Win7 64bit laptop to handle weather and images. I reinstalled the SebecTec software and adjusted the settings and it is posting to my website http://www.stetsonweather.com/wxcam.php. It is pointing east out my window and seems to be better than before. The only complaint I have is that the exposure settings seem unable to compensate for the sunlight the way VM95 did. You see my Cherry tree and the ground fine, but the sky is completely washed out. Any ideas would be helpful. Todd

What camera are you using Todd? I'm finding the same "washed out" issue with SebecTec that I did not see with Cam2Com. I'm using a Olympus C-4000. (my camera is offline currently as I redo the camera mount.) John

The tests I did with the C-4000 were fine but I did not point it directly into the sun. We installed two SP500-UZ cameras yesterday at Moosehead Lake, ME. I think you will find the SP500 to give very good results. The new setups on Moosehead are here: www.greenvilleWebcam.com and www.rockwoodonmoosehead.org/images/ftp-Mike

I am using the C-4000 and am frustrated with the quality of this software. VM95 has a few issues, but it seems that 1 or 2 out of every 10 are just crappy photos. It seems the exposure settings are fluctuating and it is about to drive me crazy. I'll get 2 or 3 good ones, then the next will be very grainy and dark. At this point I have no idea what to do other than installing XP and going back to VM95. Any help is appreciated, I am running out of patience.

No, the sun is much higher now, if I run the VM95 software it seems to be able to compensate for it, this software does not. Todd Right now it is almost completely washed out. Are you shooting right into the sun?

Being frustrated I did a little test. Same computer XP SP3, same camera Oly C4000. Installed VM95 defaults, SebecTec defaults. Ran the VM95 for 5 minutes with a picture every 60 seconds, every one flawless (VM95 does periodic exposure testing using 3-4 images, it then sets best exposure). Then ran SebecTec with same parameters. three of the five pictures had issues (darker, grainy, one was even too dark to make out).
Am I taking too frequent of an image? Is there some exposure setting or selection I've missed? I really can't justify the $$$ if I am going to get inconsistent results.

If you want to get away from crappy images I can only suggest graduating to a better camera like the SP500-UZ. The auto exposure settings work fine for almost any situation - even into the sun. If one needs to make multiple exposures to evaluate the lighting conditions it says more about the capability of the camera than the control software. Additionally, if I want to take a smooth time lapse sequence I don't want to have to be taking time continually taking pictures and evaluating frames. -Mike
