I once watched a roofer working on a house next door to me diligently trying to get the felt down before the storm started. I suggested he should get the hell off the roof but he basically said, "I don't want to have to come back tomorrow." (Paraphrasing). At the time the lightning strikes were between 1 and 2 miles out. He worked through the storm until he was done. I watched the whole time as lightining was literally striking within 500 feet of us and he never flinched.

Too bad the storm wasn't a little closer or he may have had the rest of his life off from work.

And I can't believe that picture Eric posted.  That is like seven kinds of stupid.

One time in particular me and another guy were out installing an antenna on a 30' tower when a storm came in quick.  I climbed down and jumped in the pickup as fast as I could and it was starting to rain by then.  The other guy determined to finish stayed up there about 25'.  Big bolt of lightning shortly after lit up the whole area with an almost instantaneous thunder clap.  I think it hit just across the road on the hillside maybe a quarter mile or less away.  That brought my coworker down off the tower pretty quick.  I told him I thought I was going to have to climb up there and scrape of his charred remains off the steel pipe if he waited any longer.

I wondered about that, but it looks authentic.  Somebody did a good job.  Where are you getting these?

These are just GREAT! While they may be fake photos, you can bet they've really happened at one time or another. Send more!

Well, the guy in the truck has a smile on his face, so he must have gotten the insurance claim he wanted.

The person responsible for the second pic tempted fate but didn't lose. Had he lost, there'd be a large crater.

Ouch! That one is a little too close to home.   

I put a weather station in out at my wife's employer's dirt pit a bit over a year ago and my 20' ladder was about 10' short of my goal. They pulled a big honkin' dump truck (too big for road use) up to the post and I used the bed to get my extra 10'. In my defense I did strap the ladder to the truck so it wouldn't go anywhere, but afterwards on the drive home all I could think was "stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid"!

We were trying to figure that out on another forum I frequent.  It is really well done if it is a fake.  You can see the marks on the pavement from the forks and the metal frame.  From the marks we figured maybe they unloaded the bomb from a truck or something and while backing up it started to tip rather than running out the dock door.  Someone else thought or read somewhere that actually a truck backed up into it tipping and pushing the forklift into the dock building.
