Hello,

Are there any weather radios that can monitor more than one channel at a time?

If I live near Detroit MI, I can get WB channel 7 and channel 4 in Ontario.

Or this that what a scanner is for? (but I'm only interested in the weather band).

Thanks

Weather Band radios receive stations that typically are "on the air" on a 24/7 basis. Listening to both channels simultaneously or having two radios would, IMHO, be next to impossible. A scanner, by its nature, would merely stop on a given active channel and sit there until the carrier dropped allowing it to move on to the next channel.

Thus, listening via a scanner wouldn't be possible unless it had a feature, which some do, to pause on an active channel for only a given period of time before moving on to another. The result would be a very chopped-up conversation and not very desirable.

My Uniden scanner can "watch for" a S.A.M.E. signal while scanning, without the "chopped-up conversation" problem, however it will only do this for one weather band frequency (assuming this hasn't changed on newer models - you may want to check the Uniden webpage).

More than one weather radio, or more than one scanner, may be the only solution.

If you are coverd by two frequinces and want to hear warnings for both. You need to have 2 S.A.M.E weather alert radios.

until the Ontario, Canada  weather service & Detroit weather service agree to rebroadcast warnings for each other.   They can be programed to broadcast warnings for Essex County, Ontario  & Wayne County, Michigan.   They may already do this.
