Is any one using VSPE from Eterlogic with startwatch?

I am asking because although the emulator works flawlessly with VVP and my weather software, I cannot get startwatch to start VSPE because when you save the paired port configuration it saves it as a .VSPE file and from what I know startwatch will only start .EXE.

Is it possible to parse your file on a command line for Startwatch ? That is  vspe.exe /filelocation/filename.vspe  .... and let StartWatch execute that line ? Sorry just guessing here. I dont run StartWatch but like Windows Startup you can have the .exe call its associated config file if it is not a defaulted name but putting the file to open after the execution call.

Thanks for your suggestion - but no luck. I'll keep trying though.

Thanks.

I run it at windows startup.  Here is the information from the help file:

Autorun: command line shortcut
If you want to automatically load virtual devices configuration at Windows startup, please follow the steps shown below:
Step 1.

Create configuration and save it using "File => Save as..." command. Remember config file location (for example it can be c:/config.vspe)
Step 2.
Create windows shortcut. If you have installed VSPE at default location ("C:\Program Files\Eterlogic.com\Virtual Serial Ports Emulator") shortcut parameters must be as shown below:
Target: "C:\Program Files\Eterlogic.com\Virtual Serial Ports Emulator\VSPEmulator.exe" -minimize -hide_splash c:/config.vspe
Start in: "C:\Program Files\Eterlogic.com\Virtual Serial Ports Emulator"

Yes that starts it but doesn't get round the problem of StartWatch being able to start it and therefore monitor and restart it if required when I am away.

I have sent an email to support as they recommend this driver but I have not heard back yet.

Just a crazy thought:  compile the batch file (with .vspe flag) into a .exe and have SW  monitor that.

I had the same problem getting VSPE to load the configuration file on start-up until I put the file in root C: any sub folder wouldn't work

c:\config.vspe -minimize -hide_splash

Now it all starts up ok loads the config file and minimises without showing the splash screen

Sorry, should have said the above is n the Params field of the VSPE program options within Startwatch

I guess I don't see the point of having StartWatch 'watch' the VSPE.  It is a low-level driver as opposed to an interactive program, and shouldn't need and perhaps even shouldn't be subjected to monotoring.
