Hey folks,!

Im completely new to the hobby and cant wait to get started! Also, so glad I have found this site, its made me feel less alone in the broad market that is Weather Stations! However my dilemma starts now because it seems there isnt loads of choice of software for Mac.

I have seen a few different screenshots of various software and my initial thoughts are that they are a bit cluttered and not so easy on the eye compared to some Windows packages.

From what I gather I have 2 choices, LWC 2 and Weather Snoop? Are there many others? I quite like the look of weather snoop, is it any good?

I take it that both of those choices are limited to what hardware will work with them...

My budget for Hardware is between £100 -£200.

My requirements: All I will need it to do is to measure wind-speed, direction, rainfall, temperature indoor and outdoor. Anything else will be a bonus to me.
To be able to use the software on my mac and watch the readings live with it plugged in USB. To be able to record the data for my records.
Id also like for there to be not too much of a delay from what is happening outside to what is displayed on the monitor (60 seconds?)

If you guys can point me in the direction for my requirements it would be massively appreciated.

Regards

James

I use Weather Display software. It runs on Windows, Mac and Linux and is very reliable. Works with a wide variety of weather station hardware, too.

In the meantime I have been scanning this forum and pretty much made up my mind that is it going to be a betta idea all round if save up a bit more and go for the Davis Vue! Looks a great piece of kit, works with mac and lots of happy users on this forum Wink

Hi, I am like you a Mac user, I think the "Weather Snoop" is the best choise. This software can used with a lot of hardware (Weather Staton) like: Davis Vantage Pro/Vantage Vue, Peet Brothers ULTIMETER, RainWise MKIIICC-LR, Oregon Scientific WMR100/WMR200/WMR968, LaCrosse WS-2315, Ambient Weather WS-1080/WS-2080, Tycon TP1080WC, iROX Pro-X, and Honeywell TE923.
I personally prefer the Oregon Scientific brand, my next will be a weather station or WMR200 or WMR100.

I agree Weather Snoop is what I use. I've been using it for over a year, with no complaints.  They have added features, and update often.
