Here in Phx, AZ we get some pretty intense heat/UV radiation. I am looking at getting the 6250 Wireless Vantage Vue for $305.

With this unit being mounted in direct sunlight, will I get inaccurate readings?

I know the Wireless Vantage Pro 2 has the ability to separate its sensors and it has a fan but the VP2 is $535. I can't justify the $230 difference in price, especially in this economic downturn.

You will almost always get more accurate readings with fan aspiration, but as long as there is any breeze at all your temps should be fine. There will be some higher readings possible with no breeze at all, although the shield is designed to create a convective current in those situations. However, it's less effective with the smaller shield on the vue. Mine is on the roof at about 30 feet, and it actually tends to read cooler then my ground unit, thanx in part to a good breeze most of the time, and the fact that outgoing radiation from the ground has less of an impact.

I decided to go with the Pro2 instead of the Vue. It was only a $100 difference so I got the Pro2 for $420.00 delivered. Can't wait to get and set it up!
