I've just got my hands on a second hand Davis Temperature Station (6372OV) and the PCB inside is set out like the standard IIS PCB, complete with connections for Wind, Temp, UV, Solar & Rain. There is also the connection for the solar panel.
So, is this a normal ISS PCB in a different case and can I plug other sensors into it, like making the Temp Station into a remote anemomenter station instead of having the cable going to the ISS?
Or is it only capable of using the temp sensor and nothing else?

Just wondering, that's all.  Wink

Cheers for any info,
Martin.

You can use it just like you would an ISS and with regard other combinations as long as you maintain the specified maximum number of units per system.

The 6372 has a standard VP2 SIM and so all appropriate sensors can be plugged in and can be received at the console as long as the console channel is set to the appropriate type (ISS, WIND etc). As usual, you can still only have one single active ISS, WIND & RAIN (IIRC) channel per console, so having an extra Tx board won't work around the problem of wanting to run eg multiple ISS units or anemometers (unless of course you source an Envoy8X console unit). But using a 6372 in place of a 6332 box should work fine functionally.

The main drawback of using a 6372 in this way is that since it doesn't have the solar panel on the door, it will run through batteries roughly every 6 months or so if used as is. (ie there are other options, like buying the solar door as an add-on, running the unit off a separate 6v solar panel or 4.5v - ie 3 x 'C' or 'D' cells - battery pack or 5v/AC mains supply  etc).

Thanks guys, that confirms what I was thinking, I just hadn't had the time to check it.
I have the original SIM cover with the single solar panel in it that I removed when fitting the daytime FARS so I'm sure I can find some way of using that on it.  Wink
I've also got a spare temp/hum sensor that I wanted to fit, hence the original question. It's also handy to know that I've now got a backup if anything happens the ISS SIM.  Very Happy

I've noticed this morning that the outside temp is occasionally going to ---.- but the humidity is OK. I've re-established comms between the ISS & the console but that didn't change much. The temp/hum sensor is one of the later ones as it was replaced about a year ago.
When it stops blowing a gale out there then I'll check the connection on the SIM and clean the sensor & plates but has anyone seen this before and have any ideas of a solution?

Cheers,

Martin.
