What! Davis hasn't fixed the envoy firmware issue yet? I had the very same problem and I was able to fix it on my own. I emailed them a few weeks ago and they said that they would be fixing the firmware update file that is corrupt. They accidentally reprogrammed your envoy to be a console product #6312B.
The updater that is corrupt is:downloadable firmware file "
https://www.davisnet.com/support/weather/download/VP2_Wireless_3_80_Envoy.zip"
VP2_Wireless_3_80_Envoy.zip MD5=AD7DD8434EE2DA0BE2D773AA4442CD07 bytes=339133
Which contains the file:VP2_Envoy.exe MD5=BFDFF2AE1DDD9BA5B5C287E564CEA0BE bytes=356864 modified=11/10/2017 12:15:02 PM
The errors you get are:failed to complete update
error upon firmware update 2nd time: Model number does not match!
Here is the fix to get your unit back online:- download the older "Envoy2_wireless_firmware_3_15.exe".
- extract the files to a folder using an extractor like '7zip' (https://www.7-zip.org/).
- edit the "VP2_EnvoyConfig.txt" file by replacing the "6316" model with "6312B".
- launch the update using the edited config file as a parameter: VP2_PC_Updater.exe VP2_EnvoyConfig.txt.
Example file:
// Title
VP2 Envoy Console Updater
// Code File
VP2_Envoy_3_15.UP
// Model Numbers
6312B
