Mini-oscilloscope
« on: March 04, 2014, 01:08:34 PM »
Did you guys see the posting on the Blitzortung site about this little oscilloscope? It might be interesting to embed it into the antenna amp box.
It is David.Gamble's posting titled: Debugging with a cheap oscilliscope
I see the board (only) on Sparkfun.

Debugging with a cheap oscilliscope
Having built an amplifier and controller I was not confident that they were working correctly, so I bought an "Exprotolab" from Gabotronics http://www.gabotronics.com/ for $49! My requirements were not high, all I needed was to track the signal through the Amp and also use it to find a good low noise location.

To my amazement it performed very well.

I disconnected the ferrite aerials, bridged the inputs and fed a square wave into the Amp from the Exprotolab via a 1K inline resistor. I loaded the PC software included (Xscope Interface) and it was very easy to chase the signal through. As a final check I compared the two outputs - all good. The very small display works OK, however I might go for the larger unit for an additional $20.

Geez, I must REALLY be a GEEK, because that wrist watch o'scope actually looked interesting...but, I restrained myself and didn't 'pre-order' one (Ha,ha)!
