62 mph wind gust on July 11
« on: July 13, 2009, 09:30:12 AM »
I recorded a 62 mph wind gust on the 11th.. Small problem, wind never got above 12 mph the whole day. No storms no nothing. So How do I correct this in the system (database) ?

First, edit the Bin files in VWS.   Edit first the Day it occurred, then the Month, then the Year.  Then go back and edit your NOAA reports with notepad.exe.  That is how I got an erroneous MPH out in April.

I think you will find it in a menu called something like "Recall Daily, Monthly, Yearly Summery" in VWS's menus.  You can change the values there for each bin file that you open.  Look for 2009_07_11.bin for the Day, 2009_07.bin for the month, and 2009.bin for the year files.

You can go to WU and edit/delete the offending data, but sometimes that works sometimes don't.

Which file would cause that? You mentioned something about the noaa data files....

The WU files were sent to WU when the "glitch occurred".  WU does not offer much of any editing of real use.  I just learn to live with the "error" in the WU reports on their website.  As for the NOAA reports VWS generates those on a schedule designated in a setting in VWS.  When I had a bad value, I traced the file down to the directory where VWS "hides it", opened it with notepad, made the data change and resaved the file.  It's real easy there.

I changed those files because I publish them on my website.

Sam,
I just deleted the noaa files for the month and year and restarted VWS. It recreated them with correct data. I am now uploading all my archived data to WU to see if that works...

Thanks for all the help!  =D>

Hmm, good idea, and good results.  I will have to test that out sometime.
