Rainwise MK III Setup Help
« on: March 01, 2016, 06:08:38 AM »
My MK III arrived yesterday and was pretty easy to install.  The issue I'm having is something doesn't seem right between my Rainwise Net account and Weather Underground account.

Prior to receiving my weather station I opened a weather underground account.  Once the station was installed I went to Rainwise.net to register my IP 100.  One of the options allowed Rainwise to obtain a Weather Underground station ID for me.  I checked this block and everything worked fine.  My station ID is KSCMYRTL51.

Rainwise.net is up and running and seems fine.  I can see my station on the Weather Underground map and read my data.  Seems ok but when I try to adjust my station settings on Weather Underground it says you don't have any PWS registered.  I never went through registering my station directly on WU because Rainwise.net did this I assumed.

Also the station shows the elevation as -107506 according to WU.  It is correct on Rainwise.net.  I can't figure out how to adjust this.

Here is a note from the Weather Underground site: "Once you have a Station ID and password you need to type them into your weather station software. The password for each of your stations is the password you use to log in to our site."  Here is another issue.  The option I used that allowed Rainwise.net obtain my station ID also assigned me a password.  You can see this on the IP-100 settings, partner services tab.  This is not the password I use to log into the WU site.  If I change the Password on the partner services tab to my current WU password and hit test, it says wrong password.

So even though I can see my data on Rainwise.net and I see my station on WU, WU doesn't see this as my station.  It sees just another station out there.

I'm thinking I should delete everything and start over.  Not allow Rainwise.net to obtain my station ID and do this directly on WU.

Any thoughts or ideas?

yeah....somewhere WU and Rainwise have their wires crossed.  It sounds like the..."which came first the chicken or the egg."  In my case, years ago, I already had a WU account that I was feeding by way of WV32.  When Rainwise came out with their IP-100, I turned off the WV32 feed and let the IP-100 handle it.

You can do a 'start-over' or call Wayne Burnett at Rainwise a call or email
wayne.burnett@rainwise.com

Good luck

Thanks for the info VaJim.  Thanks to John @ Rainwise I believe everything is fine now.  He did have to obtain a new WU Station ID.  I'm now KSCMYRTL52.
