Meteobridge with DIR-505 doesn't connect Wifi - Help!
« on: March 10, 2019, 11:55:17 PM »
Okay, so I have an Acurite 5-in-1 with the Smarthub and I got to feeling jilted by Acurite, so I went looking for a way to make my system start working again.  I discovered the MeteoBridge solution to use the TPLink DIR-505 to intercept the Smarthub packets.

I got the 505 flashed and am able to bring it up with it wired to my network.  I can configure everything fine and save it.  But, when I pull the ethernet cable and reboot it, the 505 doesn't connect with my wireless router at all.  I've tried every possible configuration on the 505 and on my router's wifi settings.

I've tried running both on WPA, WPA2.  I've tried using an USB stick to have the 505 boot from an image (although I'm not sure I have good instructions for that).  Can anybody give me some help or relate their experience getting this kind of setup going?

Thanks!

Have you tried manually setting an IP address? Dynamic sometimes doesn't work. Whatever address you had using ethernet, go into your router and set a static IP that matches it.

On meteobridge page for manual IP...

Netmask is 255.255.255.0

Gateway is your main router IP

DNS is 8.8.8.8

Make sure the check mark for LAN bridge is on.

Okay, here is the config like you said:

Upon reboot with the ethernet cable unplugged, the 505 just flashes green fast and never gets to solid green.  It is not accessible through the network (ping doesn't reach it).

Is the D-link range? If not, the light will blink rapidly...

Otherwise, I have no idea. You may need help from Docbee.

Change the WPA Algorithms on the Meteobridge from PSK to AES to match your router.

Okay, so here are the choices available with the router (on the left) and the Meteobridge (on the right):

I've tried WPA2 Personal and AES with the router, and WPA2-PSK on the Meteobridge, and there's no connect.

I took a look at mine and I have the Meteobridge set to WPA2-PSK and the router set to WPA2 Personal-AES and it is working.  At first glance at your screenshots this was something that stood out to me but when I took a look at my settings I found I was wrong.  Try these settings.

I have tried your suggestion, and it still doesn't connect to the router.  I do know the Wifi hardware works, because I used my laptop connected to the device's Wifi to flash the Meteobridge image to it.  This is frustrating.

I just read about Kevin Keys software here in the forums.  I will give it a go.
