Since everyone was making such a big deal about...

...the "Supermoon", I thought I'd dust off the D40 Nikon and remote and tripod and give my photography skills a whirl.  Mind you, the highest zoom I have is a 200mm

Taken about 20 minutes ago...no retouching and no cropping.  Yet.

Nice!  I was thinking about trying for a moonrise shot this evening using 'The Photographer's Ephemeris' to scout a suitable nearby location.  I suspect, and WXSIM agrees, that those plans will be undone by persistent cloud cover, however.  We're still socked in this morning by the clouds left over from our recent, much-needed thunderstorms.

Take some more pictures of the moon sometime later at the same angle in the sky and see if it's noticeable that the moon shrank.
