Title: 5 in 1 HD display clears all records at midnight
Post by: jga2z on February 02, 2019, 01:03:29 AM
I have an AcuRite weather pro model 01535S 5 in 1 sensor with the HD display that I bought in February of 2017. With minor exceptions (wind speed and regular +5 degree high temps, likely due to installation location) it worked great until March of 2018. Yes 1 month out of factory warranty ), but I have an extended warranty thru Mastercard until 2/10/19.
Ever since March of 2018 all home screen rain records clear at midnight every night. 48 hour rainfall will be displayed (as well as recent which is currently 3 days old) and other 48 hour records only are accessible. The home screen still scrolls historical data, but only for the last 48 hours, and records prior to March 2018. All other historical temp, rainfall, humidity, and wind speed records are blank.
I don't think I am missing some kind of setting nor have I had any power failure issues. Could it be a sensor issue? or in the display? Get a different display unit? Type?
If anybody can offer any possible solutions to my problems give it a shot. If not I am going to try for the warranty replacement. That will likely involve starting with AcuRite to confirm that it's defective, and then going to Mastercard for the extended warranty. I've used the Mastercard warranty a few times in the past with all positive results. I'll post my experiences on the warranty if it comes to that.

Hmm, 70 views and no thoughts or opinions on my problem.
Can't some one say whether the display is where the historical data is stored and has nothing to do with the 5 in 1 sensor? If it shows "recent" rainfall at 0.33" 6 days ago, but "rain records" for week, month, and year are all zeros is that proof that the display unit is defective?
I'd also like some thoughts on which displays compatible with the 5 in 1 sensor might be a worthy replacement for the Model# 06058M HD display, or should I just stick with the same model?

As you've figured out, the display is where are the historical information is kept.  The sensor knows nothing of such things.

So, yes, it's the display that is defective somehow.  Acuite does have a lager number of 5n1 displays, with slightly different features and looks.  If you know the display featres well, you may be be to negotiate a better replacement model or your purposes.

I suspect most just get the same as what they had, but it never hurts to ask if you could do a more "creative" solution.

I have the same display as you and I recently noticed that it no longer retains the "yesterday's records" info and the 48 hour graph info only goes back about 33 hours. I too have an extended aftermarket warranty which is good till April. I was planning on trying a display reboot to see if that helps. I first noticed problems a few weeks ago when historical data going back the past year seemed to vanish. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I contacted AcuRite support and sent pics of a couple of the screens (including the screen shot in last post). They said that the unit is defective and needs replaced.
So I sent that and other info/docs 2 Mastercard for their warranty determination. The MAJOR problem at this point is that I bought the whole weather station new at Sam's club for $69.97 on 2/10/17. That's all the potential $$ warranty coverage I'm eligible for. A replacement HD display is only available at AcuRite, for $114!!! I guess I won't bother with the HD display if I end up getting some money from the Mastercard warranty. So far the best price on other 5 in 1 compatible displays is on Amazon. Maybe the 06006M for $85, or the 06016 for $75

OK, so here's the conclusion of this story. The warranty with MasterCard went great. Only took 10 days till I got a check, and that was after a 3 day delay in getting the copy of the receipt from Sam's Club to submit for the claim. They didn't even look at the receipt or they wold have noticed that the purchase price I told them when submitting the claim of $95 was a total that included several other items. I was going on the statement charge at Sam's club for purchase before I had the receipt, and was unaware that my wife who picked it up had bought other things! So I ended up with a check for $95! [tup]

So the last part of the story is that I got the 06006M display for $85 off Amazon and after hooking it up I decided to play around with the old HD display and did a factory reset. To my surprise and amazement that fixed the original problem
So after 5 days it is still working perfect. All the historical data is retained and I'm back to a working display.\:D/

Thanks for sharing that. I can't tell you how many times, through the years, I've fixed something that I thought was unfixable, with a hard reset.
