Virtual VP with USB Datalogger
« on: November 17, 2012, 05:30:27 PM »
I had Virtual VP running at one time with a serial datalogger.  I now have a Davis USB datalogger and for the life of me cant figure out how to port it to the USB connection.

Any pointers?

Thanks

Rich

make sure the USB data logger is not set to USBexpress mode
i.e it needs to be in virtual serial port mode (i.e so that a com port number to use shows in device managers, ports)
Davis have a utility program to change the mode
(in weather link you then set to use serial mode instead of USB mode and set the com port number that windows allocates)

Brian, thanks for quick response.

Is this what you are talking about?

http://www.davisnet.com/support/weather/downloads/software_driver.asp

Says it only applies to WL 5.8.  I tried to run it anyway but it could not find device.

LOL, making some progress now. Brian you were spot on.

I was making too much work out of it trying to go to Davis and find a utility when it was in my Weatherlink program group all along.

Now I have a serial in my device manager showing up as COM 11.  Thats what I was needed.

Thank you kind sir !
