"Bomb" for this week......
« on: February 07, 2010, 02:09:36 AM »
Been spending quite a bit of time over on www.easternuswx.com and man does it look like those of us here in NY who got the shaft from this weekends storm could very well make up for it in spades. The model runs look REDICULOUS  \:D/ Although it's still a ways out with the tightness of agreement between the models my hopes are getting pretty tweaked right now...

Yes sir!  I was looking on Accuweather and for here in NW Ohio they are predicting 5-11 inches of snow through Tuesday night . If it holds true it will be the first big snow of the season.  We had about 3-4 inches on Friday night.
Going to keep an eye on this one for sure!! 8-[

Love that site. Most of meteorological stuff is over my head but I still like to read it.
Can't wait till tropical season.
Good luck for this weeks storm.

I'm not holding my breath. We've gotten the shaft up here in Upstate NY as you can see by all the complaining in the Upstate NY thread

My massive 2-3 inches expected wednesday, now appears to be 1-2 inches....  #-o

I am going to have to find a innovative use for an extra couple of hundred pounds of Alaskan Ice Melter this spring/summer.

You still have a lot of February left and March to contend with. The way the weather has been for the past couple of years I wouldn't hang up your scarf just yet.

I know, but after last year when the depot ran out of melter (shovels and blowers), I loaded up this year.  then the mid atlantic stole all our snow.

I find the melter turns into a nice blue sludge if not hermetically sealed.

I currently have a forecast of 90% chance of snow for this coming Thursday night here in south Louisiana.  If it happens, it will be the 3rd time in one winter I see snow down here....never happened before.

Well if you are going to ship it to Canada anyway, you might as well send it to Vancouver for the olympics... but please use USPS, the olympic committee cant afford the UPS "brokerage" fee since security is already 5 times budgeted...

... www.easternuswx.com ...

I have attempted to get into this site numerous times but keep getting an error message that says I'm not registered. When I try to go through the registration page, it kicks me back to the error page again. Does it take anything special to register and/or login?

Never mind - got in and registered through the back door in Help...

Don,

It's NUTS in there right now. They do at times shut down visitor browsing and registering for periods to ease the server load.

The storm is finally starting to move out here in NW Ohio.  Only 1 or 2 more inches today.  I've drifted so bad here that I can't even get a true measurement.  Best guess is about 11 or 12 inches in my neck of the woods.  The "official" total for the airport about 20 miles away from me is 10.

The barometer drop was also pretty impressive over the last 24 hours!

That is an impressive barometer dip. If I see something like that here during our rainy season I'd expect to see some serious looking black clouds approaching.

Snowing VERY hard here. 3" on the ground as I type  \:D/

Toshiba got covered fast so I switched to the Log. 600 for the live feed.

Be back after I shovel.

I don't know how much we've gotten, but it's been quite a bit.  It just keeps coming and coming.  The last snow had dumped a lot, but some of it had melted or sublimated, but this one has more than made up for the difference,

A few shots...

The deck....

Trees in the back yard

The greenhouse....  (that snow had been dug out... it has all been replaced... and then some)

The garden... or rather the only things tall enough to stick up through the snow..

Bit of each....

It's been nice to get some really NICE, beautiful snows.  I love just watching the snow fall, and the beauty of it during the snowfall and immediately after a fresh snow.  However, I am so tired of shoveling....  my back and arms just ache.  Each big storm I've had to shovel the deck, deck steps and paths in the yard for the geriatric pack (my dogs) multiple times.  Usually 4 times or so during the storm to keep it clear.  Then there's the driveway and sidewalks out front....
