Upload/transfer data
« on: February 24, 2016, 11:59:00 AM »
Hello,

I have three questions:

- Is it possible to downland free of charge the most recent version of Weatherlink ?
- Is it possible to upload data's from the station every 20 seconds for exemple instead of every minutes?
- I need a transfer software FTP who transfer some file on my server every 20 seconds. Does it exist?

Thanks in advance for your help

Q1, Yes, here. http://www.davisnet.com/support/weather/downloads/software_frmwr.asp
Q2, 1 minute is the most.
Q3, Doubt it.

1. Not legally unless you have a prior licensed version of Weatherlink.  The link given is for firmware, not software.
2. It _should_ be possible to directly read the console but not using the Davis logger which uses a 1 minute interval. I can't recall the update times but IIRC only some of the ISS sensors update more frequently than 1 minute.
3.  Once you get the data as in #2, any FTP software can update a server as quickly as you like.

My apologies for the bad info.

If you have a legal licence to V6, then it should be possible to upgrade to the latest.  But there might be firmware dependencies.  You should as the Euro distributor for Davis.  My guess though is that a  clean install of the latest version should work.  But you will have to source that from Davis or another "approved"  ;) source.

It is possible to directly connect to the logger outputs on the back of the console.  Search this forum for posts by "Dekay"; he did the seminal work on this.  Also, another user Torkelmj (?) has published papers on the interface and attaching to the outputs.  Looks like the fastest update is 10-12 seconds:  http://www.davisnet.com/product_documents/weather/spec_sheets/6152_62_53_63_SS.pdf  And IIRC = If I Recall Correctly.  :)

The logger supplies live data to the PC/software at approximately 2.5 second intervals, it is only the stored data which is downloaded when the software starts up after a period of downtime that is at one minute intervals.
