Davis Anemometer
« on: March 03, 2018, 10:58:55 AM »
I live out in the country.  Built a house in 2008.  Upgraded to the VP2 at that time.  It's quite windy here in ND.  I started noticing about 2 weeks ago, what my anemometer was showing for wind and what sounds my house makes in the wind aren't coinciding with what I thought they should be.  I looked at my Wind Run data from Cumulus and it confirms what I suspect.  January and February are about half the amount of wind run they should have been compared to other similar months.

I did the math.  My 10 year old anemometer has about 744,000 miles of wind run on it.  Since mine is the older style read switch with bushings, I decided to put a whole new unit on order.  Get the upgrades in reliability.  Not that I'm complaining.  I think I got good mileage out of mine.

Just thought I would share...

I just replaced the cartridge on mine about a month ago. Never thought about estimating the the wind run for time I had it.
