Detachable Metal Bird Spikes
« on: August 24, 2018, 05:03:19 AM »
Hello, our engineers recently have designed a Detachable Metal Bird Spikes to discourage birds from landing on the rain collector.
It's composed of 1 self locking stainless steel zip tie + several PTU cover +  several metal spikes.
What do you think of this design?

As the size of the rain collecting area is made larger, the amount of rainfall measured  ( number of tips ) will increase.  Is the correction factor for the weather-programs known?

Yes, I immediately thought the same thing thinking the black portion was an add on, but after a search, it's actually stock that way. Odd.

The design is inspired by one of our customers, and he wants us to produce products like that to fix the bird issue.
We'll take your feedback into consideration before we produce the design.

Hello, the larger sized rain bucket is designed for more accurate rainfall measurement. And the coefficient calculation formula is V=M/S/T.
You can visit this link to know more information about the rain gauge: http://www.ecowitt.com/Rain_Gauge/10.html

If you have any other question, please let me know.:)

Looks to be same rain collector as Ambient Weather WS-2902A, WS-2000, and WS-1600-IP. Where can we buy this modification? I can easily find the metal zip tie and made my own spikes from a long thick metal rod cut to size. But the critical piece is the plastic insert and where do we get that?

Sure send me a message. Or just post a follow up here and I'll get a notification. Have you set a price for this modification? Is Ecowitt doing this modification independently or are you working with Fine Offset?

You should change your signature to indicate that you are Ecowitt.
